The kids are most certainly not alright

HOLY SHIT! If you just saw Supernatural tonight then I'm sure you had the same reaction to the last 5 minutes that I did!

Alright, so Dean tries to find his gumby girl (aparently he was the best sex she'd ever had and boy do I believe it!), but he finds she has a son. I was glad that it was revealed pretty early on that Ben was not his. There were some really great Dean moments in tonight's show, especially when he told Ben to kick the mean kid in the crotch to get his video game back. That was soooo classic. On the other hand, I find it hard to believe that a child Ben's age would be so into chicks. What a cute child actor though.

On the Sammy front, we still don't officially know Ruby's name, but we do know SHE'S A DEMON! OMG! I was NOT expecting that. Amy and I screamed! I had a working theory going that she was Steve Wandel's daughter, you know the guy Sam killed last season while Meg was, as Dean put it 'all up in him.' Boy was I wrong. It is however interesting to see a Demon on the other side. We've been told time and again that Demons are only out for themselves, so what's stopping them from befriending hunters to get ahead. I wonder if Ruby was let out of the Devil's gate, or if she was already around? I need to re-watch the episode to figure out all those names and if they mean anything. Why would the Yellow Eyed Demon want to kill anyone who knew Sam's mom. But clearly the best part of all of this is that Ruby can potentially help Dean. Amy and I screamed again but for joy this time.

Other times when I screamed during the episode:
-When the guy ran into the saw blade (I hate circular saws)
-When something ran behind the little girl as she was hugging her mom in the beginning
-When the changeling's faces were shown for the first time
-When I realized that there were little things moving inside the changeling's mouths
-When Dean got in trouble for telling Ben to beat up the bully
-When Ruby sat down at the table the first time
-When Ruby started talking about Sam's mom
-When Ben was not Ben

I really missed the brother-to-brother interaction in this episode, but Sam trying to lie to Dean in the beginning was so classic. I also don't like that they're keeping secrets from each other. Dean never mentioned that he thought Ben might be his, and Sam hasn't said a word about what's going on with Ruby. Granted I know he is afraid of what that might mean for him, and how Dean will feel about giving his life up for someone who still may not be his brother. Oh my gosh the possibilities are endless.

I was also disappointed when Ruby told Sam that it was all about him. I know that Sam is Luke Skywalker, and that Dean is Han Solo, and Star Wars is not supposed to be about Han Solo (even though he is the reason you go to see the movie), but the reason that I was so happy to see the special-kid storyline end was because I have always felt that this show is about brothers, and not one more than the other. I thought with the whole deal thing, this year would really be Dean's arc, even though his character did develop quite a bit after Pappa Winchester died. But I trust Kripke more than any other show creator, and I know that he has a plan, so I'm willing to follow his lead.

Amy and I are warming up to Ruby, but I'm still not quite sold on the actress (the character is fine, and certainly more interesting now than ever). But episodes like this are why I have decided to try my hardest to avoid spoilers for this show. Although I accidentally (seriously) found out about Dean and his possible son weeks ago. I was pissed.

Finally, I wanted to hear more lore about changelings, there was about a minute of Sam and Dean talking about how they use mothers and are killed by fire. Does anyone else remember the Are You Afraid of the Dark episode with a changeling in it?

Monday, Tuesday, Happy Days

Usually I'll just try to tackle one show per night, but for the next week or two, I just can't help talking about more than one because all my beloved shows are returning to me for the fall season. Oh Joy.

Monday night was definitely good to me, as I was treated to two amazing premieres!

First How I Met Your Mother returned with a bang. We got a really big clue about Ted's future wife which involves a yellow umbrella. But that was just the tip of the ice-berg. It's been a few weeks since Ted and Robin broke up and she went to South America only to return with Enrique Iglesias (did I spell that right?), way to shove that in Ted's face Robin. (And just wondering, but what do you all think of her new hair, I kind of like it, but I kind of don't. I'd prefer if she'd alternate between strait and curly and not go curly all the time.) Anyways, in reaction to her new beau Gael (pronounced guy-el), Ted hooks up with Mandy Moore which results in a butterfly tattoo on his lower back. Originally I was disappointed in the lack of Lily and Marshall present in the episode, but towards the end there was a mini-montage of both Lily and Marshall being in love with Gael. (Oh Marshall, you are too adorable.) And just when I thought I couldn't laugh any harder there was a small bump before the next show started where Marshall called Barney late at night to warn him that the 'slap bet' from last season was still on. In a genius move on CBS' part -- the website is actually real! And viewers can countdown with Marshall and Barney at SlapBetCountdown.com! I love it!

Next I watched the season premiere of Heroes. I was surprised that regardless of how much I loved the show last season I wasn't terribly excited for the premiere. However this could be due to the fact that I've been watching waaaaaay too much Supernatural with my roommate. But I have to say I was blown away. Every other scene I was gasping with surprise. I'm not terribly happy with having Hiro in the past, but I love what they have done with the show. There is still more mystery with 'the company' still existing, and who was that hooded figure that killed Hiro's dad!? I like the start-over we've seen for Claire and her family as well as Matt with Molly and Mohinder. Wow! And just when I was starting to get upset that Peter was merely mentioned but nowhere to be seen he shows up with no memory chained to a shipping container. Woah! Now I remember why I was so darn excited for the show every week last year. I cannot wait until next Monday.

So what a great start to the fall season! I watched Reaper on Tuesday and I wasn't terribly blown away (the premise is painfully weak), but I love the actor who plays the devil. I do recognize that the real reason why I can't fully support this show is that there is only room for one 'Sammy' on the CW, and Supernatural has that covered. I think I'll continue watching Reaper because the lead is cute, his chemistry with his female lead is palpable, but if for nothing else, because there is nothing else on at the same time. (At least there won't be once Eureka ends.)

It's Been A While

Okay, so it's been more than a while, but I can't help my passion for TV and things are really heating up for the Fall season so much so that I feel the need to spread my Fall TV Season Cheer!

Woah, that was a little over the top. Recently I've been watching some new pilots, and although this year's TV line-up is certainly better than last year there are still some unfortunate series that made it to air.

I watched the pilot for Chuck last week through Amazon Unbox, I'm sure they'd be happy to hear that. It airs tonight on NBC before Heroes. The show was definitely amusing, but I'm still a bit confused on the premise. Basically this nerdy guy accidentally downloads a secret government computer into his head through an e-mail (which let's just get past that in the first place) and then is subsequently chased by two competing government agencies who want to 'protect' him? Along the way he is able to pull random facts from his brain to help the government get the bad guys. My question is, how can he pull new information from the now-destroyed computer? Is there like a wireless signal putting stuff into his head? You would think that after a certain point the information would become useless because it's old. I might just be dense however in my assumptions. Chuck's sister and his sister's boyfriend/fiance? are useless other than to make Chuck feel useless. However, his friend steals every scene that he's in, and I might seriously consider tuning in just for his random tripes. On the bright side I do feel that Chuck has quite a bit of potential because once the premise is set-up hopefully they won't have to re-explain it every episode and hilarity can ensue.

One pilot that I don't recommend you touch is The Big Bang Theory. Two words: laugh track. There is something that seemed so unfunny about the pilot. There was virtually no chemistry between the characters. The basic story is the a hot chick moves into an apartment next to two geeks. Real high concept. The show just tries way too hard, and between the genius babble between the two geeks and the hot girl being dumb, this show is going nowhere fast. It almost makes me wish The Class hadn't been canceled, and that's says something.

If sitcoms are your taste however you might want to check out Back to You which stars Patricia Heaton and Kelsey Grammar; it's also available for a free download on iTunes. Besides the somewhat random twist at the end these two TV veterens have remarkable chemistry with each other; it's almost a shame that the show is doomed to air on Fox because it would have been such a better fit on CBS' Monday programing or on NBC's Thursday. It's worth the download, and again there is a scene stealer in the fakely hispanic weather girl/meteorologist.

And finally, the show that I hope you all will be watching is of course the critical darling Pushing Daisies. This 1-hour crime dramedy revolves around a pie-maker who has the ability to bring people back to life for only a minute without consequences. He helps a private detective to solve cases and collect reward money using his power. Along the way he brings his childhood sweetheart back to life, but the biggest problem with his gift is that if he touches the revived object/person again they will die for good. Somewhat complex, but the cinematography in this show is spectacular and is somewhat reminiscent of Tim Burton's Edward Scissorhands. The show's rich look and feel factor into the amazing character development; all of which was displayed in the pilot alone.

TV tonight includes my returning favorites How I Met Your Mother and Heroes. I predict that Chuck is the only sure bet to survive as far as Monday night shows go. Journeyman is doomed and The Big Bang Theory might last a little bit longer but there is no way it's getting a second season unless they bring in another recurring character played by an established actor to bring in some actual laughs.

I'll be back tomorrow with Tuesday TV. Until then I might be able to fit in a couple more episodes of Supernatural.

Flash Forward

Although a lot of TV shows recently have tried episodes consisting mainly of a flashback like Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, and most notably How I Met Your Mother, there is a new emerging trend of flashing forward. Let me explain.

Two CW shows have been reportedly toying with the idea of fast forwarding a significant amount at the beginning of next season, if they get renewed. The programs in question: One Tree Hill, and Veronica Mars.

It came out late last fall that a possible direction for One Tree Hill's fifth season could be a five year flash forward to all of the characters having just graduated from college, or on their respective career paths. This is definetly and interesting proposition for this show because it has been made clear that most of the characters will be going their seperate ways after high school with exceptions like Haley and Nathan. A move like this, obviously could be hit or miss. When you think about it, the audience for the show are pre-teens, who, while not opposed to twenty somethings managing life after college, are more prone to watching shows about their slightly older counter-parts. If OTH was to jump forward they may face a major rebranding of the show, and I don't know that the CW has the resources to do so. But potentially they could pick up a larger audience, because as previously stated, they will retain the majority of their pre-teen audience, but they could add high school students, college students, and even twenty somethings to their roster. It would be a bold move, but I don't see any other option for the show. I certainly don't want to tune in to a bunch of new cast members, and no interaction between our regular characters.

The second show which is debating this time lapse is Veronica Mars. It was recently reported by Reuters that VM creator Rob Thomas approached the CW with the idea to have Veronica training at the FBI Academy after she has graduated college. It seems that the idea was proposed so that the CW would have more options to renew the show. Smart move on Thomas' part. I would do anything to keep Veronica Mars on air, including waving goodbye to Gilmore Girls. The one problem with this flash forward is the supporting cast. What makes VM such a standout show, especially in the first two seasons, was the supporting cast. We already know that we're losing Piz (Chris Lowell) to Grey's 2.0, and there are rumors abound of some of the supporting cast getting the axe should this new format be picked up. Michael Ausiello from TV Guide has insisted in his column that this is just a horrible rumor. At this point, I think I would like to see a flash forward for Veronica as long as we don't lose Keith(her dad), Mac, and obviously Logan. I would be sad to see Weavel and Wallace gone, but they have done nothing this season, and I think that their characters functioned better in a high school atmosphere. The bottom line is that the college setting is not working with the VM format.

How do you all feel about these possible flash forwards? Or should these shows just end?

When It Raines It Pours

It's always nice to tune in to a new show with high hopes, and end the show with those hopes being exceeded. This is exactly what happened with the NBC, mid-season replacement: Raines. I tuned in because I have been a Jeff Goldblum fan since I first saw him in Jurassic Park, which is only like my favorite movie of all time. I also thought the premise of a man who has hallucinations of the victims was an interesting spin on a procedural.

Within the first couple of minutes the audience is introduced to the victim, and Raines. We find out that this isn't the first time he has had an experience with victims, but it is the first time he is physically seeing them, rather than just hearing their voice. Raines talks through his problems with his ex-partner who was injured while on duty with Raines. The supporting cast only gets better with the addition of the outrageously funny Nicole Sullivan, who's job title isn't quite clear, but she works for the police, and helps Raines out with specifics he needs.

The process that Raines uses to solve these cases is unique, and also resonates with the audience. The show really plays to the viewers more than other procedurals and asks the audience to play along. In this first episode, the first suspect was a red herring. Raines knew this, and more importantly, the audience did as well. It's always nice to find a show like this that lets the audience truly solve the crime along with the hero, as opposed to catching up at the end of the episode. It kind of reminds me of Scooby Doo, but in a good way, because I love Scooby Doo!

Anyways, if you're sick of your mom's procedurals, and CSI has gotten stale for you, as it has gotten for me, check out Raines. You can watch each episode, including the pilot for free at NBC.com, which I would recommend because there's an awesome twist at the end. However, because it is a procedural, at this point I don't think you'd be missing anything if you just jumped in. If you watched it, let me know what you think!

Oh, Robin

So, continuing on the British TV binge I've been recently enjoying, I decided to check out the latest update of the Robin Hood legend which just finished its first season on the BBC. I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun this show really is.

Well, first we have the characters. Robin is youthful, but wary from war, and has a great sense of humor, along with the weight of the world on his shoulders in his understanding of the value of human life. He takes his people very seriously, but is able to put a comic (and extremely attractive) face on different situations. Marian, is young as well, and although she has a history with Robin, we don't exactly know what that all entails. I feel that she is way more outspoken than a woman could actually be at the time, but the actress, is just beautiful, and her and Robin have unbelievable chemistry. As far as Robin's 'merry men' are concerned, we have Much who used to be Robin's man-servant, but is now free because of his service while Robin was in the Holyland fighting for King Richard. Little John is also present, but I feel that Much has taken over the companion to Robin role. (Although, Much does it with a whiney tone) Little John is a father figure to most of the men in the group. We also have the side characters of Will Scarlet, and new characters for this show: Alan A Dale, and Roy. Each add their own personality to the show, and offer a decent supporting cast for Robin.

Where the show really shines however, is in its villains. Of course we have the necessary Sheriff of Nottingham who is deliciously evil, and played by Keith Allen. But it's the addition of Guy of Gisborne that really makes this show shine. I can't get enough, and I'm only 4 episodes in. I would highly recommend this entertaining update on a timeless classic that hits all the right marks.

I'm Still Holding that Torch

So my roommate sent me a link to this magical website a while ago, and this mystical site in question has links to over almost three hundred TV shows that have streaming episodes over the Internet. The best part of this site is that you can find old TV shows in addition to current programs, but more so that I have access to foreign TV. And when I say foreign I mean British. Some of you may know that I'm in love with the remake of Doctor Who starring David Eccleston, and later David Tennet. But what you might not know is that during season one of the remake I fell in love with the character Captain Jack Harkness, played by John Barrowman. I soon found out that he was to star in his own spin off called Torchwood.

I've watched 12 of the 13 episodes from the first season of Torchwood. I'm holding out on the last episode simply because I don't want it to be over. Because in reality the series only ended in December. The show was better than I expected it to be, simply because I had read so many negative reviews online from people who had seen it in Europe.

Owen Harper is described by the director in 'Torchwood Declassified' as "your typical cheeky bloke," and I think that says it all. He's a womanizer who obviously has his own issues, but hides them with his extreme personality. The scene between Owen and Gwen in 'Countrycide' while they are scouting the forest, may be one of the hottest scenes I've ever seen in TV and maybe movies. Their chemistry is undeniable, but I was disappointed when this 'cheeky bloke' personality was destroyed with the arrival of Diane from the 1950's in the episode 'Out of Time.' I liked seeing a deeper side to Owen's character, but I didn't see enough of them together to really understand the connection that they shared, and that ultimately broke his heart. In addition, the following episode, 'Combat' seemed like a waste on the character. I would have appreciated Gwen and Owen developing a deeper relationship, and then perhaps her choosing her current boyfriend over Owen, and breaking his heart in that way. With that scenario, we would have a plethora of consequences for both Owen and Gwen personally and professionally.

What I think is important to understand about the show is that it is not Doctor Who. What we draw from Doctor Who is the character of Capt. Jack, and also the establishment of Torchwood, which seemed to be a theme, especially in the second season, but we were never clearly told in Doctor Who, exactly what it was. However, we were able to see the beginning of the division in the Doctor Who episode 'Tooth and Claw' when they save Queen Victoria from a werewolf.

The season in general was a bit lopsided for me. I really enjoyed the first half more than the last portion. The beginning seemed a lot more fast paced, and seemed to involve more aliens rather than the supernatural, or in the case of 'Countrycide' simply disturbing human behavior. I was also very taken aback by the blatant sexual content found in the series. But again, I have to remind myself, this is not Doctor Who, which is very mild, and meant for a PG audience.

I also saw as a general trend that each episode separately focused on one particular member of Torchwood, rather than the cast as a whole. I do think that this was good for the beginning half of the season, as I enjoyed getting to know the rest of the cast, but after I knew who everybody was, and their background motivations I wanted to see them interacting together rather than alone.

I could honestly go on forever about Capt. Jack, and how dreamy he really is. The character development with him is perfect because we get little bits, and yet there is still so much that is unanswered. In one of the 'Torchwood Declassified' (a behind the scenes short for each episode) the director said what is interesting about his character is that the more you find out, the more you realize you don't know. Although I am a bit confused about his sexuality, I would watch anything involving this character, and even John Barrowman's over the top, but at the same time reserved performance.

I thought that the first episode of Torchwood actually mirrored the first episode of Doctor Who in the introduction of this new female heroine who has this innate interest in what she does not know, and is more than happy to let some control go, and go along for the ride in the hopes of new adventure. Indeed, Gwen Cooper, and Rose Tyler have a lot in common. Although some might argue this was redundant, I think the premise works for both shows, and especially Torchwood, because automatically, as a new viewer, you identify with her character because you are learning things with her, and understand her confusion and questioning. Gwen's relationship with Owen, and Jack is a very interesting sub-plot that I would love to see developed more.

Toshiko Sato is the resident tech expert, and easily the most intelligent of the bunch, but I have never been able to form a connection with her character. I found myself thinking during every episode, even her feature episode 'Greeks Bearing Gifts,' that I would never care if she died or not. I would rather have someone who offered a more plausible romantic interest for Jack or Owen, or Ianto, and possibly in competition or available as a best friend for Gwen.

And lastly we have Ianto Jones, who like Jack is ridiculously good looking, but besides 'Cyberwoman' which was his coming out episode, we rarely see him, except his moping about losing Lisa after the episode. I really would like to see him more on the show than we see Toshiko, because I feel like his character has a lot more possiblities, and that he is being used only as a plot device when his character deserves so much more.

Despite the faults I've outlined, I really do love this show, and even though I have watched it online, I will absolutely buy the DVD's when they come out in America. If you are a Doctor Who fan, tread lightly, but this might be the perfect thing to hold you over until season 3 is released in America. With a few changes, this show could be just as strong as Doctor Who in certain elements, but I appreciate it for being its own show.

Leaving Lost Behind

I'm thinking about leaving Lost. it's not something I'm proud of, but something I need to do for myself. I feel like we've lost our connection, and I just don't feel the way I used to. I think we need to break up.

Okay, perhaps a bit too melodramatic, but in a way, it's how I feel. Lost was an old friend, a stand-by show that never let me down, and was constantly full of surprises. However, since it came back for the 2nd half of the season, every episode disappoints me more than the last. The mid-season premiere was missing the heightened tension that left me on the edge of my seat. Juliet's back story was interesting, but not interesting enough. The addition of Juliet's research, and Karl's 'Clockwork Orange' set-up to Lost's mythology wasn't interesting enough.

The following episode which revolved around Desmond, although well received by other viewers, felt like a waste of time. Desmond's flashback didn't move any story forward for me. However, I was delighted to hear that Charlie is destined to die, and his death can't come soon enough for me.

Last night's episode was perhaps the biggest let-down of all. We were told we would get answers. The meaning of Jack's tattoo was lame. We saw the children, but we don't know what's being done with them. But as usual, more questions were raised. And honestly I'm sick of it. I just want to know what the heck is going on with this show.

In my opinion, Lost is out of control and has lost its appeal because it's not packing the punches that season 2 gave us, and instead offers little insight on old and new mysteries that I just don't care about anymore. I know that the show is failing when I'll miss the Lost podcast I listen to, more than the program itself.

The Agency Has No Focus

Last night I got a chance to watch the season premiere of The Agency on VH1, and the 30 minute show left me utterly confused.

For a season premiere it was dreadful because there was barely any set-up, and it felt like I was thrust into a show during the middle of it's season. There was very little character development which was more than necessary given the cut-throat nature of the agents.

Starting the season with Fashion Week was a mistake, because although it seemed to accurately portray the chaotic nature of a modeling agency during it's busy season much more build-up was needed. I also thought the problem of too much content could have been easily solved with an hour-long program, instead of one half that size.

The whole time I was watching the show I just kept thinking how amazing it would have been on Bravo; the network that has pioneered glitzy reality TV with great development of drama.

I had high hopes for the show, and perhaps that was my downfall. The Agency is a perfect example of just how much editing in reality TV can make all the difference. I would definitely love it if Bravo stole the idea and made a show similar to Blowout or Tabloid Wars in design and scripting.

I Don't Want Grease Anymore

So the past couple of weeks, I have been a big advocate for NBC's Grease: You're the One that I Want. I know that the show is a simple rip off of American Idol. The show has been commonly referred to as Broadway Idol. There were so many things wrong with tonight's 2-hour live show that I don't know if calling it a train wreck would even do the disaster justice. Below is a list of why this show was such a failure, at least in my mind:

1. Naming each Danny and Sandy like Spice Girls: What were the producers thinking? Emotional Sandy? Slacker Danny? (The rest are baby, ballerina, rock-chick, serious, spiritual, and small-town Sandy, and hot, ambitious, wholesome, boy-band, bellhop, and second chance Danny) I know they want to differentiate each contestant for the audience, but they all look different, and they all have different names; shouldn't that be enough? And honestly, who came up with these names? I wonder if any of the contestants are offended by their new monikers.

2. The Judges: For people who supposedly have their careers on the line they sure don't seem to care all that much who actually will end up being the lead in their play. Because if they cared even a little bit, they would stopbeing so GD nice, and let the singers know that honestly they're crap. The best example of this is when 'Emotional Sandy' (Ashley Anderson) and 'Second-Chance Danny' (Matt Nolan) both majorly flubbed their songs. they were both worse than anyone I've ever seen get through on American Idol, and yet the most the judges said was, 'You were a little off' or 'Try harder next time.' What?! The whole point of having judges on a show like this is having objective people who are familiar with the industry, and know what standards these singers have to live up to. I wasn't sure how I felt about them having to pick their favorite Danny and Sandy of the night because it could turn into America voting off strong people accidentally if they think they're safe earlier in the competition. There is always one person on Idol that gets the boot for no apparent reason other than the fact that nobody voted for them because every American thought every other American was voting for them. And lastly I am very nervous for Andrew Lloyd-Weber next week, because although he has the chops, he's crazy, and he could really screw up this show worse than it already has been.

3. The Contestants: Before this week I really had an emotional attachment to some of these people, however I might as well call it right now that Ashley S. and Austin are going to win. Let's face it, I could blame song choice on how horrible the singing was, but they all just suck really. And as previously stated, my initial excitement to have Ashley A. and Matt Nolan back was immediately squashed when they each sang their first notes. And lastly the dancing was atrocious.

4. The Hosts: Both Billy and Denise were not nearly good enough to make this show somewhat entertaining. I was confused as to why Denise was prompting the judges after each performance, and honestly the questions were such fluff. Billy Bush didn't do any better while interviewing the contestants. He commented to one girl: 'How does it feel to have every man in American in love with you?' What? The girl was just as confused as I was.

5. The Live Show: I know this was the first time this program went live, but the show was a mess. There were awkward camera angles, uncoordinated cuts, which often times had us looking at an empty stage or similar shots. I still am not sure why they had such an odd order by placing Dannys and Sandys against each other, except that they weren't really competing directly. And lastly the final group number was just as bad as the rest of the show, but the worst part was the Ds and Ss with question marks on their clothing. (ex. D? or S?)

Admitedly I will probably keep watching this show, but if next week isn't a vast improvement on this show, I will tune out. What did you guys think?

So this is the blog post where I catch up on some reality TV programs that I've just caught up on myself. Holy cow, did anyone just see Top Chef. What the heck happened with Cliff? I hate Marcel with a passion, but holding him down to shave his head? C'mon. And what was up with the scariest guest judge ever: Eric Ripert? Ugh, he gave me the creeps (pictured at right) I was surprised at first when I thought that Marcel and Elia were being sent home, but I respected the decision. Then they announced that they should 'pack their knives. . . . . . . . . . . . for Hawaii' Whatever, I suppose, you can't have a two hour season finale with only two chefs, my bad.

Also on Bravo, I tuned in for the season premiere of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Which, yes, I admit, I watched last season. And honestly, it's not so much about seeing rich people, or the drama of the show, which, let's face it, most times is just as artificial as the housewive's breasts, but rather for their ignorance and general stupidity. However, this season doesn't look much more interesting than last season which was boring, but let's face it, I'm a TV whore, and I'll pretty much watch anything.

producer And lastly how could I forget the ratings Juggernaut that is American Idol. I am so psyched to have this show back on the air, and let's face it, I don't even know why. Thank god I have a Tivo, otherwise the incessant commercials would be a deal breaker, especially for the audition episodes. But what really gets me is how the auditions especially have really turned into such a joke. Yes it's funny to watch idiots get embarrassed on national television. At first. After hours on end of horrible singers I really have had it. On tonight's episode, the first person that was shown who got to go through to Hollywood was 30 minutes into the program. And in a two hour block of time, only 4 other contestants were let through. Then I think, at least I can fast forward, I can't even imagine what it must have been like for the judges, especially knowing that the majority of the people that come through the door (that are screen by two separatepanels), are going to be complete crap. That must suck. However, I am more than willing to sit through a month of horrible auditions just to be able to make audio packages for my podcast: Pop Culture Shock. Well, it's late, and I've got more TV to watch tomorrow including the musical episode of Scrubs, which I really want to be totally awesome.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly [Part 3]

So there were two shows that were quite frankly ugly this week. The first, and most obvious was Ugly Betty. Finally the show is back! And I totally called that Becki Newton (a.k.a. Amanda, a.k.a. Ausiello's new Keri Russell) was Ruthie. My roommate didn't believe me, but we froze it on the Tivo, and sure enough! I honestly didn't call that Sophia was tricking Daniel, and that's why it was a great twist. Regardless of the fact that it kinda ripped off How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. I just hope that Betty is able to get back to Mode rather quickly. And in other psuedo spoiler news, when I was watching the previews for this week's episode of UB, I paused my Tivo on the eyes of the masked woman, because they looked kind of familiar. I was like, it looks like Rebecca Romijn's eyes. And, oh, what's that? I was right! Click here for the proof.

The other show that got ugly this week was aptly named Beauty & the Geek. One girl on the IMDB message board for the show was confused as to why the blondes suddenly were against the brunettes. And to tell you the truth I don't think they ever showed that anything went down. I feel like there was something that was cut out in editing. And tonight when that one blonde called the brunette a geek, and said she was cooler than her, I almost had to rewind my Tivo to check if that actually just happened. It's too bad that the girls aren't taking this show as an opportunity to change their ways, and learn from the guys who all get along very well. It's disappointing to see something like this in a show that's supposed to be teaching the audience to see beyond superficial things in people, and get to know them for their personality. And it also reflects poorly on women. So thanks, thanks a lot. At least I'm a geek as well as being female.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly [Part 2]

So let's begin the Bad with, a show that's usually quite good: How I Met Your Mother. Although it featured this little gem:

The rest of the episode was seriously lacking, and I didn't find myself laughing out loud as much as I usually do.

Going along with HIMYM is The Class, which also centered around sex, and was still boring. Why am I still watching this show? I really don't know. However, I did catch the live table reading online today, and it was extremely interesting to watch, and I would love to see other shows do similar things. I hope CBS got a lot of site hits with this stunt.

Dirt for the past two weeks has been weak. But everyone knew that from the get go. Again, I'll keep watching because the behind-the-scenes stuff is interesting for me because I want to be a magazine journalist, but I have no connection to any of the characters. And to tell you all the truth I'm getting really annoyed with Lucy's personality, and attitude. It's confusing; are you ruthless, are you compassionate, are you depressed. I don't know, and I don't think I care. Plus the schizophrenic stuff is not done to it's potential, actually it just shouldn't be done at all.

And last of what's been kinda bad on television this week is Desperate Housewives. This season started out so well, and now we're back into the same traps that got such low ratings last year. Susan is being crazy and whiney. Edie barely exists, except for stupid plot points. And Lynette is being overly anylitical of her husband. Due to Marcia Cross' real-life pregnancy, she seems subdued, and somewhat out of it. Where are the snarky one-liners that she used to say. Gabby is probably the best out of any of the housewives, but even then I only like her when she's on screen with Carlos. I would have liked for the secret admirer to have been someone she could have had some type of relationship with. And for the love of god, what the heck was up with Zach's hair? EWW.

This week definetly had some bad TV. Next will be the Ugly, and I don't think you'll be expecting what I've got in store for you all.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly [Part 1]

Hey guys; well, I've been catching up on some TV this week, and I'd like to catch you all up. Since I've been watching so many shows (when I'm not sleeping that is), I've decided to split the shows between three posts. And we'll begin with the good:

Grey's Anatomy came back this week, and I have welcomed it with open arms. The acting is back, the writing is back, and the show is back. I really like the way this show is going, and my favorite scene hands down was Izzie at the bank bawling, when she had to deposit the check. Hilarious. The one thing that is making me cautious is a relationship between Addison and Alex. Really? Or should I be saying seriously? Anyways, I'm still happy to have this show back, and I'm excited for a big surprise in a few weeks and another two parter that according to TV Guide will "make last year's turbocharged post-Super Bowl outing look like a stroll through Magic Garden."

The Colbert Report also came back this week, and I have to say, I didn't realize how much I was missing him. I missed the satire, I missed his smile, and I missed his snarky little comments. Aww, he's so cute. That's all I have to say about Stephen, because I love him.

I tuned in for a second week of Grease: You're the One that I Want. And I have to say this week, with a smaller dose of Billy Bush, was just as entertaining. I can't wait for the beginning of Grease Academy, and I know we'll see who really has the chops to be on Broadway.

And the last of the 'good' shows this week, was surprisingly: Saturday Night Live. I honestly wasn't expecting much of host Jake Gyllenhaal, but when he opened up by singing (in a wig, and dress, no less), I was taken aback. The first couple of skits were of great caliber. (I actually really liked the Donald Trump skit) In true SNL spirit, it of course, went down hill from there, but I'm gonna keep it on my Tivo for a while, and I think that says something for me.

Reality vs. Sitcom vs. Drama

So I finally finished with the series premieres, and they definetly ended on a high note! I began the night with Beauty & the Geek, and I have to say I'm in love. I laughed the whole time, I thought there was such a great balance between the beauties and the geeks, and between a little bit of drama and cohesion between the teams. I thought the challenges were done well. The first was having the girls find books using the dewy decimal system, which originally I thought was ridiculously easy compared to having the boys ask for favors from strangers. However when some of the beauties began to cry because they were so frustrated I realized that it was pretty well balanced. And the next challenge which had the geeks pull off a stand-up comedy act, and later when the beauties had to read from a teleprompter and interview one of the authors from Freakonomics was genius. Although I wanted to see the pageant girl pitted against Sanjay and Tori, I was glad that they were the two who left. And lastly I thought after the first couple of minutes that Cecile was the most annoying girl, but I changed my mind really quickly, and I hope that her and Nate's early lead doesn't hinder their chances in the game because people will try to get them out the second that they don't win a challenge. Either way I called my mom right away and told her that she should be watching because I can just see her laughing so hard she begins to cry, and I can't wait for the next episode. I think this season desearves all the praise it's been receiving.

Next I tuned into Dirt, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked the show. I thought the different cinematic techniques that were used really made the show interesting to watch. I was cautious before putting a season pass on this show simply because it has been receiving such scathing reviews. The reviews all agreed on the same main fault: there was poor character development, and that the characters were unable to connect with the viewer, and even unlikeable to the point that people wouldn't continue to watch. I have to say that in general I agree, but because I am interested in the inner-workings of Hollywood, and how these gossip rags get all their material the character development, for once, doesn't matter to me. However, I don't know how long the show will last because it's not that strong. It's simply a grittier version of The Naked Truth with Tea Leoni, and I would almost argue that comedy is better suited for the genre. But it's still a good topic to explore, and I'll keep watching as long as FX keeps it on the air. Hopefully long enough for me to see Perez Hilton's cameo, which he reported on his Web site a couple of days ago.

I watched Knights of Prosperity with high hopes because it had been getting great reviews, and I really love Donal Logue, who plays the main character. However I really failed to connect to the story and the characters, and the comedy. I'll keep it on my season pass for Tivo, but I'm not going to go out of my way to watch it. I feel like I was missing something, and I want to be in on the joke, and I really wanted to like this show. Maybe it will grow on me.

And finally last night I decided to watch Grease: You're the One That I Want. But I have to say I really liked it. Earlier today I read Raven Snook's review on TVGuide.com and I agree with her that it's like Broadway Idol, and that the auditions were interesting, and enjoyable, but could have been much more. And I wouldn't have known that the blonde british host was Roxie in the british version of Chicago except that Raven wrote about it. I'm pretty sure they didn't mention it on the show. And Billy Bush is absolutely unbearable. I already hated him, and every time he talked I rolled my eyes. Although it was funny when he fought for Faun (which was a stupid idea, especially since she got 3 no's orgiginally), and then when she flubbed that final note and he fell to the floor, I was like, 'that's what you get bitch.' Seriously, don't let the host mess with the process. But I laughed plenty, and I called the friends that I watch American Idol with, and told them to turn it on. Also, I think it's a great idea that NBC is re-airing the episodes on Bravo because that way I don't have to worry about it interferring with Desperate Housewives or any other Sunday night programming.

Speaking of Desperate Housewives, last night's episode is still on my Tivo, but I'll have a review before tomorrow. Talk to y'all later.

Top Chef is Top Notch

So last night, I went into my room, and turned on my Tivo, only to find that there were two new shows waiting for me! I don't know if any of you can understand how depressed I've been this winter break. It's horrendous.

First I watched Top Chef, and I have to say this season has been rockin! I love the drama! I knew Betty was leaving when she announced that she was making soup, but I still hate Marcelle. And Debi Mazar was right when she said that his 'foam' looked like cat puke. But if any of you aren't watching this, you should be, and Bravo airs it enough that you would easily be able to catch up.

Next I saw Ugly Betty, which was mediocre. I will now have to add Ugly Betty to the growing list of shows that insist on doing flashback episodes. This episode could have easily fit in anywhere else in the season without the 'present' scenes worked in. It was sad to see what Betty had to give up to help her family, and her talk with her sister about how the bag made her feel made me cry. And I know I'm not the only one. Daniel's part seemed strained, and somewhat confusing. Although any shortcomings the show had were made up by the supporting cast. (Amanda and Mark). Still great TV, and some of the best on the tube today, but compared to other Betty episodes, I wasn't impressed.

After watching Ugly Betty I watched Scrubs, which, wow, what has happened this season? I mean seriously. I can't wait for the musical episode and Michael Ausiello's cameo just because I know that they will be funny, whereas, the show this season has severely failed to impress me. Was it just me, or did JD and Turk have less than a minute on screen together? Isn't that what this show is about?

I still have the Beauty & the Geek, Dirt, and Knights of prosperity premieres waiting for me on my Tivo, so fear not I will be back soon.

Weekend of Disappointment

This weekend had me torn. Doctor Who was kinda good, and kinda bad. We see some real bonding between the Doctor and Rose, but I was a bit miffed by the whole premise. The real Satan? The worst moment for me was when Rose broke the windsheild in the space shuttle, and only the evil guy was sucked out into space, and they were all able to breath just fine. Is it just me, or wouldn't the cabin of the shuttle like implode or something. I dunno. I don't think even the idea of religion should have a place in this show just because it can get a bit iffy. They handled it pretty well, but I don't think it's necessary for the show really. And the whole Tardis saving the day premise was so utterly predictable. I knew it from the second that I found out it was missing. But I was glad that everyone was safe. I know that Billy Piper, the actress who plays Rose isn't in the third season, so when the whole sacrificing bit came up I was afraid that this was the end of the season, but thank goodness it isn't.

I watched the whole episode of Saturday Night Live, aren't you all proud of me? Well it still sucked. There were seriously two sketches about Matthew Fox being Matthew Fox. And I don't even think Tenacious D was that exciting. I think it could have been a great show, but the comedy writing was so lackluster it really fell flat for me.

Betty's Back!

BETTY'S BACK! This week's episode regained everything I feared that Betty had lost. Betty and Daniel were in prime form as he pushes her to work at WYM (I think that's right). Wilhelmina covertly threatening Mark was priceless. I finally got my Henry back, and oh, I think it bodes well for him being on the show more (regardless of the cliche misunderstood kiss), especially since Betty didn't have any of the tell-tale signs of love when it came to Walter. (Side note that I was angry he was her secret Santa). We were also able to get another peak at Amanda, and this just reinforces my affection for her, and all the other supporting characters. Simply amazing!

Survivor is holding strong. I felt that editing played more of a role in this episode than it should have regarding Jonathan's attitude during the reward challenge, and later when the whole 'sharing' fish controversey. During the reward challenge we saw bits of the minority being rude, and quite snide. I was very happy to see Candace leave, I didn't like her at all. However, I'm still worried about Jonathan, because when it gets down to it, immunity is going to play a lot bigger role. For example if it's final 5 with Jonathan, what happens if he gets immunity? They'd have to vote off one of their own. It makes me nervious.

I know a lot of people really liked Grey's this week, but I actually kind of didn't. I've decided to go character by character and explain exactly what didn't sit well with me.
-Meredith was probably the person I had the worst time understanding. I don't know why she was just so rude to her step-mother. She just wanted to be there for her, and I understand that it must have been awkward for Meredith, but she was just a plain bitch, saying something like 'I don't want you to be my family.' I also didn't really understand what was happening between Meredith and her mother, but I do think that's just me.
-Derek doubting his abilities because of Burke was just random, and not set up well. When he initially refused to do the surgery on the adult conjoined twins, I didn't understand why, and then later it was hashed out a bit better, but still not completely.
-George was still being a whore, and kind of made peace with Burke and Christina
-Izzy and Sloan present an interesting idea. What if she is able to break down his hard exterior and make him into a hot mushy man. Ooh, that'd be hot.
-The Cheif let it slide that Burke had the tremors. That would not happen in real life.
-Baily was out of character in a way. I'm sick of the pity party she's continaually having for her self.
-And the worst for me was Christina getting in the elevator at the end of the episode. I thought Burke hated her? Did I miss something? Maybe that's it, maybe I missed a segment in this show. I'm still so confused.

Scrubs is back as well, unfortunately, as I've stated in my blog before it is against Grey's and CSI, so I'm worried about it, and mad at NBC for airing it at such an in opportune time. I went to watch it on NBC.com thinking that because they have episodes of 30 Rock they would have full episodes of Scrubs, but alas they only had a two minute recap, which for Scrubs would do no justice to the episode. So I had to watch it off of YouTube. Whatever. But the episode was good, it picked up from where it left off last season, and the writing had no change, which was amazing as always. I loved the 'Bye Bye Bye' ringtone thread, not so much the Pop Rocks. The episode wasn't as humorous as usual, but it dealt with heavy subject matter and I thought they really pulled it off. I really hope they air new episodes for the next several weeks, because they can get a decent audience because everything else is repeating their season thus far. I'm looking forward to the season, and Michael Ausiello's cameo coming up.

Meh TV

Well, well, well, if it isn't Wednesday night. And oh, looky here, One Tree Hill is the only new TV show on tonight. WTF? So the show was okay. If I had to describe the episode in one word it would be 'meh.' Again we saw another flashback formatted episode that fooled us all into thinking that Nathan threw the game, and all was lost for the Ravens. I'm sure you all know I am not a fan of the gameplay, so that was not the best part of the episode for me. Nathan and Hayley's dialogue together is so awkward, as is Lukas and Peyton. I've been itching to see them together, and I was not happy with the way they came together toward the end of this episode, it was corny and uncomfortable, yet predictable. I don't know something was just off about it. I'm not digging this show right now. Until Chris Keller comes back, I don't know if I'll be fully on board. And next week is so ridiculous. Keith coming back as an Angel? Seriously?

A Round Of Applause For Ms. Mars Everyone (Tuesday 11/28/06)

So another Tuesday goes by, and yet again I'm left asking myself why I'm still watching Gilmore Girls. This show has gotten just preposterous. A knitting competition, a bearded lady etching, and a 2002 themed party? C'mon.

Veronica Mars continued with the recent rash of flashback formatted episodes. I have to say I did think that Moe (the RA) was the rapist, but I'm still confused as to how Mercer had alibis. This episode was so intense, I was on the edge of my seat with my heart beating out of my chest. I was sad to see the Dean was killed, but I think it will make for an amazing 2nd story arc. I am so upset the season will be cut short by two episodes. Hopefully we'll get lots of extras on the DVD's for what will have to be cut. I really hope we see more episodes like this coming up, just in how the supporting cast really made a return to the show. I realize it's called Veronica Mars, but the supporting cast is what makes it unique from other shows, and what makes Kristin Bell shine. Wallace & co. have really been what's missing this season. I can't wait for the second half to start.

Nip/Tuck seemed out of character this week, which is unfortunate given that there are only two more episodes this season. I don't buy that Sean would ever drink on the job, and I don't even think he would be that bothered by the homeless man. I was very confused by Christian and Wilbur, just because I don't have the history. But I will say Wilbur was the cutest kid ever; what a smile! I'm really getting sick of this whole James-kidney story line. We knew Christian will find out Michelle's involved and break his hear, but I'll kill James myself if she hurts Wilbur.

What's Up With the Flashbacks? (Monday 11/27/06)

So Barney has a brother, and he's black, and he's gay, and he's Wayne Brady, and he's hilarious. There were a couple of notable highlights in this week's How I Met Your Mother. The fact that the show made fun of couples going into hibernation was funny, but the execution was poor. Barney and Wayne Brady picking up dates and acting as wingmen for each other was fast paced and laugh out loud funny. I should also mention the comical explanation of how they were brothers given the difference in race, and Barney bonding with his baby nephew in the last scene.

The Class should be unmentionable simply because I don't buy half of them interacting, even to play raquetball. Yeah, right. The only reason I am mentioning it, is because the last scene when Richie and Lena reunited was absolutely heartwarming. Their chemistry is so touching, and has no rival on TV right now. I wish this show would reformat and just be about them with some of the side characters retained.

NBC was all about flashbacks tonight with both Heroes and Studio 60. Heroes, entitled '6 Months Ago' explored Mohinder's father, and how many of our heroes discovered their powers. We were also finally introduced to Sylar. I didn't particularly like this episode because I thought it was a bit off topic, and although it answered some questions, on the whole, it just confused me.

Studio 60 was average. I enjoyed interaction with the writers, it was nice to see them put something on the air. I don't like the story line with Jordan and the reporter who outed Matt's relationship with Harriet. I'm still surprised this got picked up for a whole season, and honestly, I don't know it I'll be able to stick with it for so long.

Five Minutes In Heaven (Weekend 11/24/06-11/26/06)

Boo, there was no Doctor Who this weekend. Just because it's a holiday is no excuse. However Desperate Housewives more than made up for the missing shows this week just in the last five minutes. The rest of the show was regular, neighbors picketed outside the pedophile's house, and his 'ill' sister had a heart attack. At the end of the episode he creepily thanked Lynette for essentially killing his sister because now he didn't have to worry about her finding out if he did anything with children, and he could act upon his urges. We also saw Orson's mother call a mysterious person to pick her up, and it turned out to be. . . wait for it. . . Alma! I know some people speculated, but I really didn't see it coming

Since nothing was on this weekend, I caught up with the first season of Six Feet Under, which is breath taking, beautifully acted, and intelligently written. I love the character drama. It's wonderful. It's always such a bummer that these amazing shows are on HBO, just because not everyone is able to watch them. But it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make because I'm sure the show is better because there is nobody forcing the show to be something it's not for ratings or the FCC.

George, Seriously, Stop Being A Whore (Thursday 11/23/06)

So last week I complained that I wanted Betty and Daniel back in the office on Ugly Betty, and ABC met me half way with Betty in the office and Daniel was hung over at her house. I enjoyed their phone conversations, Wilhelmina and Mark were kind of funny, but cliche. The one thing that bothered me throughout the whole episode is why they refused to show the celebrity couple and 'Baby Chutney.' I don't get it.

For the third week in a row Survivor was amazing. The tribes finally merged, and the idol came into play when Yul convinced Jonathan to vote with the former Aitu tribe. Most of the time the votes are uninteresting, but I was on the edge of my seat, and when Nate finally got the boot (YES!), I was ecstatic.

Grey's Anatomy took an interesting turn in their extended episode by letting Christina narrate the story. Burke was finally discovered because Christina ratted him out after he was asked to be the chief of medicine. George was being a bitch to his family, to Christina and especially to Izzy. I understand this is his father having surgery, but why not just explain to his family that Dr. Haan is the better surgeon for them. The show was very well written and acted; it was very compelling, and produced an interesting situation that I'm looking forward to exploring.

Wolverine's Temper (Wednesday 11/22/06)

There were only two new shows on tonight. As the holidays approach, I suppose, I'll need to get used to it. Both shows were not at their best. One Tree Hill was crap. Peyton and Brooke fought over Lukas, and Brooke eventually decided she didn't love him anymore. Rick Fox and his creepy cronie told Nathan he had to throw the championship game, and threatened to break his leg if he didn't. There was this pointless sports banquet, and Peyton's brother was called to duty. Loves like Hayley's going to lose the baby next week, which I've been predicting since I found out she was the one who was pregnant. Oh, and FYI, Dan is still Satan. I will never forgive this show if they let the audience forget he killed his brother.

Top Chef was interesting this week, but I'm pretty sure I didn't like it. I know singling out five of the contestants to make dinner and letting the other five eat the meal and critique it was meant to cause controversy, but I didn't like that it took half the chefs out of the competition. I still hate Marcel, but he's not as bad when Betty's not around. I also was surprised with Michael's effort. I didn't care that Carlos left. I mean, I had to look up his name. He's not that important.

Good, I'm Glad He Died (Wednesday 11/1/06)

So crazy stuff happened this week. Most of it happened on Lost. I listened to the TV Guide podcast this past week, which informed me that somebody would be dying on tonight’s show, and that it would be ‘surprising.’ But honestly I wasn’t surprised, and I was just kinda miffed. Sorry if this is a spoiler for anyone, but Mr. Eko died, and it was just boring. I didn’t think his character brought a ton to the show, and if he means I have to see Charlie more, then by all means kill him off. What is far more interesting is what’s happening on the other side of the island with Kate, Jack, and Sawyer. Now that packs a punch.

I’ve been watching Top Chef, and this season is so much more interesting than last season mostly because of the supposed cheating and fighting, but I gotta tell you that host is the most annoying woman. Her voice is so grating, could she talk any slower? Oh my god, what happened to the host from last year? This competition wasn’t horribly exciting, but I was glad that Betty won.

Ghost Hunters was uneventful, as it can be. And South Park was the only other show I watched tonight. It was alright, Cartman was funny waiting for the Wii. I guess we'll have to wait to find out what happens to him until next week.

Ahh, Halloween; holiday of candy and pranks. Let’s take a look at which of my favorite shows tricked me, and which ones were treats.

Veronica Mars this week had an interesting combination of traits from the last two seasons and new additions to its personality. So, what I liked and what I didn’t like. I think the dialogue was for the most part top notch. It was great to see Veronica interacting with the bitchy little girl, and slowly putting together the events of the crime together to reveal that it was the campus police officer. What didn’t sit well with me about this episode was the throw back to Lily from the past two seasons. As far as I know, we’ve never seen this necklace before, and I thought the placement was unnecessary. What might have worked out better was not knowing why the necklace was so valuable to Veronica and then realizing toward the end that it belonged to Lily. For new viewers I imagine it must have been quite confusing. But the farther we get into the season the more comfortable I feel with the way it melds with the other two seasons.

So I suppose you’re wondering what the trick was that I was referring to. Well, it was Nip/Tuck this week. This episode sort of stood alone within the arc we’re currently going through. I thought they did an adequate job of re-introducing the character who had too many plastic surgeries. As someone who started watching this show last season, I didn’t feel so out of the loop. But what really bummed me out was that there was no sex to be had this week. You would think with a more Christian centric episode that there would be, but alas, there were no pale butts in sight. Oh well.

Lastly, I stayed up until almost 2am watching Ghost Hunters Live. There were some highlights, and some disappointments. First I have to say, what the heck was up with wrestler CM Punk being allowed to investigate with them? It was a poor tie in to a show that continually confuses me as to why it is being aired on the Sci-Fi network. I do admire the boys for attempting a live 6 hour long show and it certainly was more honest than what Most Haunted has become. But, the show wasn't all that interesting. A lot of random talking, and the biggest thing that happened was a female voice speaking to Grant and Jason in the basement of the Stanely Hotel. It was a feat, but it was unfortunate that more wasn't caught on tape. But that's the nature of a show like Ghost Hunters, they freely admit that most of the time, nothing happens.

No LoVe (Tuesday 11/21/06)

Ya know I'm almost tempted not to watch Gilmore Girls anymore. I think the only reason I'm sticking with it, is because I'm convinced this is the last season. This week we saw the fall out of Lorelei and Christopher's marriage in relation to Rory. We also saw Rory and Logan get in a fight and then make up. I 'sookied' everything relating to Luke and April. This show is Boring, yes, with a capital B.

I was really confused by Veronica Mars tonight. So, lemme get this strait, the Lillith house faked all the rapes? That's what they made it sound like, but I don't buy it. I'm definitely on board with the RA theory I heard on Neptune Pirate Radio (an awesome Veronica Mars podcast). I also don't know how to feel when it comes to Logan and Veronica. Yeah, it was wrong of him to hire a body guard, but for the first time I'm starting to sympathize with him. I know that he loves her, and I know it wouldn't work out between her and Piz, but I am not feeling Veronica and Logan. Their chemistry this year reminds me of the lack of chemistry between Veronica and Duncan in season two. Patty Hearst wasn't worth the cameo, and the show was really all over the place. I hope next week's conclusion really stands out.

Nip/Tuck was again a wonderful episode. Christian and Michelle took their relationship to the next level and decided to get married. Because of this development, Christian sold his apartment, and all the women he's had in his bed weren't too happy about it. Sean really began to deal with Julia leaving by seeking professional help from Brooke Shields. So of course she's crazy because she loves Christian, and she wasn't so happy when she found out Christian was engaged. To tell you the truth, neither was I.

Hero Powers Activate (Monday 11/20/06)

So I blame myself alone for How I Met Your Mother not being as great as it could have been for me. I read an article in TV Guide last week about how this week's episode would be about Robin's secret life as a Canadian teen pop star, and her one hit: 'Let's go to the mall.' The episode would have been much better for me if I hadn't known the secret. Not that this knowledge detracted, from enjoying Marshall and Barney's slapping each other. AWESOME!

Big surprise, The Class sucked. Why are Ethan and Kat friends? Lena and Richie were sad though.

Heroes started off slowly, but ended with a bang. Peter finally met Ando and saved Claire from Sylar who later ran into Eden and the Haitian. This show never ceases to amaze me.

On Studio 60, the writers Matt hates left the show to write a crappy sitcom and will be taking all but two of the writers with them. This episode wasn't as horrible as it has been, because trying to figure out what was going on with the writers was amusing, but I'm still over this show which makes me sad.

Have I Seen This Before? (Weekend 11/17/06-11/19/06)

Typical end of the world, we're going to die, we lost the Tardis, Doctor Who was on this week. The Doctor and Rose landed on a planet that was orbiting a black hole, and inhabited by an evil monster at the core. At the beginning they lost the Tardis in an earth quake and there are also scary aliens that are likened to cows. . . but they're evil. It's another two-parter, and we won't get the conclusion for two weeks. Boo Hiss.

I did attempt to watch Saturday Night Live, but I ended up 'Sookieing' the whole episode, even Weekend Update, it was so predictable.

Desperate Housewives camped it up this week. We saw Gabby instructing young girls for beauty pageants. And we also watched Susan clash with Dougray's mean butler. Seemed reminiscent of season two for me, and that's a little scary.

I Will Survive (Thursday 11/16/06)

Ugly Betty has been going down hill for me. Don't get me wrong, it's still one of the best shows on TV, but I wish they would stick to the office unless Betty's nephew Justin is on the screen. Betty and Daniel together at the office produces the best result. I didn't enjoy Daniel interrupting Betty's dinner and I don't know how I feel about Selma's character making Daniel so utterly dependent. The Daniel we met at the beginning of the season would not need Betty nearly as much as he does now. Does that make sense? I just didn't buy this episode. Although I did love Mark and Amanda hanging out at Mode and getting drunk. Mark in a dress was priceless.

Grey's Anatomy is building to something, but the episodes before the climax aren't the best. George's dad had a heart problem and George wanted Burke to operate if something wasn't wrong with his hand. Izzy and Alex bonded and solidified their friendship, and clarified that Izzy wasn't ready to date again. Everyone else was just hanging out during the episode.

Survivor was amazing for the second week in a row. Aitu continued their winning streak and won reward and sent Raro to tribal council with a mystery message in a bottle. After they voted off dead weight Rebecca they opened up the bottle, and the message said they had to vote off one more of their tribe. Unfortunately Jenny was voted off, who I actually liked and she would have been able to talk them into voting off Jonathan if she had more time. Oh well, GO AITU!

Pack Your Knives x 2 (Wednesday 11/15/06)

So, umm, yeah, I'm still ashamed of watching One Tree Hill. This week sucked! Here is a list of what made me angry: Brooke and the teacher's affair was ended because he's a skank, Rachel grew a conscience but confused me in the process, we didn't get to see Brooke's fashion show, the model (who won a challenge on America's Next Top Model) was the worst actress ever, the children Haley babysat were stupid and wouldn't exist, Nathan's debt is ridiculous, and the worst plot device, and finally the basketball game was way too long and just plain annoying. Eww.

In other TV shows, Ghost Hunters was uneventful besides the fact that they were in Ireland. The best footage turned out to be a shadow of one of the cast members, but I have to say that I thought it was real for a moment, and it did give me chills.

Top Chef this week was out of control! Everyone was put into groups of two and asked to each make a course for a Hollywood social gathering. Two people were eliminated this week which made sense given that nobody went home last week. However, it was not fair that Josie was one of those people and I am really hoping some chefs have a chance to come back in a couple of episodes.

South Park was average this week. I hate sports movies, and this episode parodied their formula. So the episode was good and bad. It was funny because it made fun of all the things I hate about sports movies. However, it was still a sports movie parody, so it wasn't that great. The narrator with the record player was clearly the best part.

The Weak & Strong (Tuesday 11/14/06)

Sometimes I wonder if TV shows like Gilmore Girls have any concept of time. So it finally happened, Lorelei and Christopher finally e*****! And no, it was not that exciting, especially given that Lorelei was practically bullied into the situation. Lane and Zach were funny, Rory and her friends were annoying. I HATED this episode, and I do think it warrants capital letters.

Veronica Mars was still weak, but not nearly as bad as Gilmore Girls. We found out that Logan helped accidentally burn down a hotel in Mexico, and then Veronica was almost caught by the Hearst Rapist. What happened to this show?

So I was not looking forward to this week's episode of Nip/Tuck because I knew it was going to be a flash forward episode, but it was actually good. They toggled between the present and the future, and it was handled very well. It progressed the story forward, but still stuck to the format. Nice job.

I Have Nothing To Watch (Monday 11/13/06)

So how do you follow up a story like Swarley on How I Met Your Mother? You don't. In fact, the problem is, you can't. The gang jetted down to Atlantic City to witness Lily and Marshall tie the knot, but trouble along the way delays the nuptials and eventually convinces the couple to wait, and get married in front of all their friends and family. As with most episodes Barney was a scene stealer and had the audience guessing why he knew Chinese and just what connections he had to Atlantic City.

The Class was typical crap. A birthday party ruined Ethan's blind date who was still under the assumption that his name was Dan and he was a mountain climbing Olympic swimmer. Boring. As per usual Richie and Lena were the most interesting as we finally find out that Fern is indeed Richie's wife, and he decides to divorce her to be with Lena. The last scene of the show was Fern bringing a plant to Lena to apologize for Richie running her over, and making sure she's not going to sue.

Heroes this week was a bit muddled. We jumped between Hiro and Ando meeting a girl with memory powers who was later killed by Sylar. We saw Mr. Bennett (HRG), Eden, and Isaac together as HRG searched for answers regarding his daughter's safety. Lastly we were with Matt and the radioactive Ted; who later escaped. This wreaks of being a filler episode. I want Peter back. . . he's dreamy.

If I had it my way, I wouldn't even write about Studio 60 because it was horrible, it made no sense, and I just plain didn't get it. Stick to being set at Studio 60 in the future -- PLEASE!

The Death Of Saturday Night (Weekend 11/10/06-11/12/06)

Doctor Who is such a fun show. I love that it can move from a heavy two part arc, ending with Mickey saying goodbye to the Doctor and Rose forever, and bring back some light hearted shows into the mix. This week the Doctor and Rose visited England in the 1950's when Queen Elizabeth was being crowned. An evil alien with an insatiable appetite has taken over using the new television sets. Nothing suits this series better than really exploring the Doctor and Rose's deeply rooted relationship and allowing them to save the world over and over again. I have to say, I think I'd faint if I ever saw a blue telephone box on a random side street. But wouldn't it be nice to have a Doctor of our own?

Desperate Housewives is trucking along just fine. I was still unhappy with the stupid Julie story line, but the pedophile plot looks interesting.

I had some hopes for this episode of Saturday Night Live. With a host like Alec Baldwin, who is really enjoying a comeback of sorts, I thought he could breath some life into this show. He did not. I assumed we would have some sketch about it being his umpteenth hosting gig, and it was fine that Steve Martin showed up, I was a little miffed by Martin Short's cameo, but what really confused me was Paul McCartney. Don't you dare get me wrong, I am a huge Beatle fan, as I was raised on the music, and Paul will always be my favorite, but that didn't make it any less weird. What is he doing in the US? Isn't he dealing with his very public divorce in England? The saving grace for this show was the opening skit where Amy Poehler playing Brittany Spears spoke with her divorce lawyer about everything from keepin' it funky to $650,000 baby tigers. This is one of the funniest sketches the show has seen in years. Yes. . . years. Lazy Sunday was good, but I ache for Will Ferrell and I would give anything to see another presidential debate between Ferrell's George Bush, and Daryll Hammond's Al Gore. Strategery, where have you gone? Perhaps it's being kept in a lock box. . .

Mr. Burnett's Return (Thursday 11/9/06)

Hey, have any of you seen this girl I'm looking for? Her name is Betty and she has an awesome TV show, which I watched this week, but I didn't' see her at all. Okay, a bit dramatic I know. Yes, I like the interaction between Selma and Daniel, and Wilhelmina in a hick bar is just awesome, but Ugly Betty was seriously lacking what makes it so special: Betty. She was amazingly out of form in the swanky but rude hotel, and I hate to say it but I'm really starting to have Walter. Betty and him are not believable, simply due to their lack of chemistry. I want Henry back.

Grey's Anatomy had a similar problem because what makes this show run is the banter between the men and the women. So when you take the men out of the equation and throw them in the woods, suddenly Seattle Grace is a whole lot less interesting. I don't buy for a second that any of those men would go camping together. And why the bartender and his boyfriend were invited is beyond me. I know last week I said I was enjoying the new aspect of Baily's character brought on by her being a mother, however, I think this story line is being focused on way too much if they are going to drag it out for so long. The writers need to decide which route they would like to take. Overall, I wasn't impressed, but it's the first time this season, s I won't hold a grudge.

So Survivor is finally heating up. Usually I give a dull one sentence explanation of why Survivor was boring this week, however there will be no explanation this week because it is not needed; there was no dullness in sight. Almost the first thing that happened was the two teams being presented with a proposition: 'You can mutiny and join the other team.' At the very last moment Candace stepped out, and like a stupid lemming Jonathan follows her. The once dominating Aitu is left with four devastated players. However Aitu wasn't about to take Raro's crap and proceeded to win the reward and immunity challenges. Take that bitches. On top of it all, they sent Candace to Exile Island so she was unable to bond with her new tribe. On a personal note to Mark Burnett, thank you for being awesome, and for making a show that was bordering on lifeless come back in such a fantastical way. Yes Mr. Burnett, I know fantastical is not a word, but you are indeed fantastical, as is your show. It's nice t be a proud Survivor fan once again. Cheers to you, and your genius.

500 Calories Or Less (Wednesday 11/8/06)

Alright, I'll jump on the Jack band wagon, his acting was amazing this week! The mid-season finale of Lost was explosive, and left us begging for more. I can't get over my fascination with The Others, and their motives in keeping Sawyer and Kate especially. Jack and Juliet are wonderful together, and I can't wait until, what, February. Oh man, that sucks; it's so far away. Bummer.

This week on Ghost Hunters we saw the results of the live show at the Stanley Hotel. As I predicted, they didn't capture much. This episode served more as a recap for last season's episode at the famous hotel. I also guessed correctly that the voice phenomenon Grant and Jason heard in the basement was the best evidence collected.

There was some definite drama on Top Chef this week. The contestants were divided into groups of three and each group was told to make an entree, a side dish, and a dessert, all under 500 calories. I do think this was a very creative challenge, especially given that the food was for a children's weight loss camp. The issue which caused problems was the accusation of cheating. Betty admitted to adding more sugar to her cookies and changing the recipe, but she did so under the assumption that the meal would still be under 500 calories because they had left over calories. Another chef also claimed to have seen people using a lot more oil than the recipe specified. Nobody ended up going home, which surprised me, especially since Marcel (who I like to refer to as Wolverine) needs to go.

South Park was kind of weak this week. I thought Cartman's interaction with himself and his friends, while he was in the future was comical, but I thought this was a bit of a lackluster ending to a two part arc. Although the end with Cartman transporting himself back one month versus two weeks before the Wii's release was a nice touch.

Underwhelming (Tuesday 11/7/06)

This episode of Gilmore Girls in particular was extremely trite. The idea of Lorelei and Christopher at Yale parent's weekend was just stupid. I couldn't stand this episode. Ugh.

Veronica Mars was a bit more of an improvement this week. Piz kind of asked Veronica out and Logan and Parker ended up tagging along. As with Gilmore, I've certainly seen better, but I know I'm not the only one who desperately wants to see Piz and Veronica together.

Nip/Tuck this week was just scary. I will admit that I have not seen any episodes before last season, but that doesn't make this episode any less frightening. All the prison stuff was scary, and anyone could have guessed that it would end badly; something was off from the beginning. But was with our two previous offenders, nothing that special on the show's standards.

Swarley, Crazy Eyes & Jerk Nails (Monday 11/6/06)

I think we have honestly found the next great American sitcom in How I Met Your Mother. This episode is hands down the best in the show's history. Bordering on Seinfeld's 'show about nothing' mentality, this episode offered several quotable ideas that should be added to sitcom lexicons everywhere. First there was the idea of Barney being mistakenly called Swarley at the coffee house, which they decided was less cool than their pub. Ted and Marshall quickly decided Swarley was to be Barney's new nickname, much to his chagrin. Then there was the plot of the girl with 'crazy eyes' which is only rivaled by men with 'jerk nails.' Halfway through the episode we watch Lily stalk Marshall's date as a hunchback midget with a limp in the rain. 'Hey you, turn around.' And, as if this episode wasn't amazing enough, it ended with Marshall and Lily getting back together and the girl turning out to actually be crazy. I loved every moment of this show.

The Class on the other hand continues to fall from grace. I was very put off by the whole Kat and Ethan steal other people's blind dates story line. However, the song that one guy wrote and sang for Nicole was sweet; as was Richie and Lena. This show is still suffering from too many characters.

Tonight on Heroes the show seemed a bit slow. We learned some revelations about Nikki, and we also got a or more background on Peter's family. Also Claire's interaction with her brother was priceless. Not the best episode, but still a lot better than many shows currently on the air.

Laurie's Got A Gun (Weekend 11/3/06-11/5/06)

This week Doctor Who wrapped up the story about the robots taking over the alternate dimension England. I love the actor who plays Rose's father, and it's unfortunate he isn't able to guest star more often given their chemistry. The plot to me seemed lacking regarding the robots, but the character development and character drama did wonders for the show. I'm not quite sure how I feel about Mickey staying. I know I said I didn't like him, but he's alright in small doses. It makes me wonder if we'll make it back to that dimension somehow. All these parallel worlds got me thinking: Why can't the Doctor go back and help prevent the Time Wars, or at lease save one or some of his kind? I suppose any sci-fi show has to have some plot holes.

Desperate Housewives was explosive this week. I thought this hostage/shooting episode was well written and for the most part well acted. The best part of this episode was that Nora was shot. I think I cheered aloud. But I have two main qualms with the story. The first is why a woman we were only introduced to at the beginning of the episode shot Laurie Metcalf's character? It was just random, and it could have created a better story for one of our current housewives if she had to deal with a murder. The second problem is regarding Julie and Edie's nephew. I am fully aware that people can bond during a traumatic event, but Julie seemed to forget so quickly that it was his fault they were even in the store because he put a bottle of liquor in her bag and made sure she was caught shoplifting. One of the final scenes where Julie was hugging Susan was awful when she ran to Edie's nephew. Uck. I'm all for eye candy, but I do wish better casting, writing, and acting is involved.

Cry Another Day (Thursday 11/2/06)

So Selma finally made an appearance on Ugly Betty tonight. Apparently a lot of parents were upset with the sexual overtones during the show, especially regarding Selma's dialogue. I guess I see where they are coming from, but how come they hadn't previously complained about Daniel's sexual promiscuity and is failed semi-relationship with Amanda? I thought that Daniel and Selma have amazing chemistry and I'm looking forward to the tension. But I did miss Henry this week.

Nothing much to report on the Survivor front except that Flicka was finally voted off tonight, and I couldn't be happier because I can't stand the girl. Next week will hopefully prove interesting.

So I definitely cried during Grey's Anatomy tonight. We had two main stories. The one that made me cry revolved around a woman who had two uterus' and a child in each. It came out during the episode that her fiance is not the father of both, and he decides he can't stay with the woman, even during a complicated procedure to remove one of the babies. Of course at the end the husband reappears and that's where the tears came in. The other story delved further into the complications between Christina and Burke given the problems with his hand. Christina erased Dr. Baily's name from the surgery board fearing that she would discover Burke's secret or object to the work that Burke allowed Christina to do. However at the same time Baily feared that her co-workers had lost respect for her because she had a baby. I really appreciate this aspect to Baily's character. We know she has had previous struggles but this doesn't compare to the problems she faced after her maternity leave. Tonight's show was top notch.

A Magical Time Called November

Well, as all us TV buffs know, the beginning of November is a double edged sword. It means that repeats begin to set in, but it also means in a few short weeks, we will begin to see truly awesome TV in the form of November sweeps. So although I sigh each time I tune in to a TV show and find that I have already seen it, I know in my heart it will all be worth it. It really will folks.

That being said Heroes was the only new show on tonight that I watch. Regardless, it was still amazing. So how hot is Nikki’s husband? Umm, super hot! I knew about his power via a spoiler from the TV Guide Podcast, but I think I would have been surprised had I not known. But what did surprise me was when the professor’s friend was in league with Claire’s evil dad. OMG! I think my mouth was open for at least five minutes in shock. I also called at the beginning of the episode when we found out that Claire’s biological parents were coming to visit that they were not her own. I have a theory that she’s a test tube baby and that her dad or people who knew more about the genetic mutation for the powers genetically created her. Yeah, that’s my theory.

I’m pretty sure Nip/Tuck might be the only new show tomorrow night, but we’ll see. Kick it.

Saturday Night Dead. . . Except for Borat?

Again Doctor Who was grrrrrreat. I still wish Mickey wasn’t on the show as often as he is. And it’s always interesting to learn more about the Tardis and how the time space continuum works. But I don’t understand why Sci-Fi doesn’t air previews for the next episode after the end of the current one. They do air promos during the week, and it is an hour show after all. I was also sad that this was a ‘to be continued’ episode. Those suck.

So, Saturday Night Live. What to do, what to do? Alright, here’s my beef. I love Borat, don’t get me wrong, but what the heck was he doing in a live five minute ‘commercial’ before the show. I didn’t mind that it was Borat, but I do mind that Saturday Night Live is selling out even more than I thought possible. After all, isn’t the main idea behind having a guest host, at least right now, used as a promotional tool? Why not wait to have Hugh Laurie on until next week, and put Cohen on this weekend. I don’t get it. And I thought it was a shame that SNL had to stoop to this level when there are so many other things they could have done, even had him in a different sketch with Hugh Laurie. I want to give a quick shout out the SNL crew for having a Most Haunted sketch, even if it did suck, just the reference was nice.

Desperate Housewives is trucking along. I’m really torn about Gabby and Carlos. I love the actor who plays Carlos, so I don’t want him going anywhere, but I really don’t know if I want them together or apart. I am so happy that Tom realized the error of his ways, and that Lynette laid the smackdown on Nora. Finally. Susan didn’t bother me this episode. That was nice. I like her with Dougray Scott, yeah, I do. Edie and Mike are unnecessary. And as always I was pleased with Bree. I just love her character, what can I say?

Thursday's Getting Crowded

So how cute was Betty this week? Umm, super cute! I loved Henry, and I want Betty to be with him so badly. The social security thing was to be expected. Although I admit, given the mysterious nature of part of the show I thought that something more sinister could have been involved. I want the mystery portion to progress more, and faster. I think that would be the only suggestion I would have for the show though.

Now Grey’s Anatomy didn’t actually air a new episode this week, but I heard some disappointing news. Scrubs is coming back (that’s not the bad thing, that’s actually quite awesome) and it’s actually getting paired up with 30 Rock, which isn’t the worst idea. However, what is the worst idea is putting it on Thursday nights at 8pm central against CSI and Grey’s Anatomy. I don’t know what NBC expects to get, but if they aren’t careful they’ll have two cancelled shows on their hands. I think it’s horrible, and it doesn’t bode well for either show, even though NBC mean for them to do well. Will someone please knock the execs at NBC upside the head.

Beware of Long Lost Stalker Brothers

So woah, when One Tree Hill’s a rockin’ don’t come a knockin’. Tonight’s episode was stellar. Is One Tree Hill well written, not really. Is it well acted? C’mon Chad Michael Murray is the star. Is it realistic? Hell no. But I’ll tell you what, it is sure is entertaining. I told y’all I was loving the Payton-stalker brother storyline, and it did not disappoint. But now I’m sad because it’s over for now. Although I totally called that he wouldn’t be in the shrubbery later. I am so over Hailey and Nathan. The whole baby thing is just dumb. Let it be said that on October 30^th 2006 I decree with no prior knowledge other than countless hours exposed to daytime television that just as Nathan gets used to the idea that Hailey is pregnant she will suffer from a miscarriage. Although I will admit that I don’t know whether they will both be attending Duke or Stanford.

Lost was a mind trip. I’m out of my mind watching this show. The whole pacemaker thing in Sawyer was mind boggling. And umm, not to mention THE OTHER ISLAND! What!? I know. I kinda liked the small interaction we had with the original losties, and I wish that they would have introduced Rodrigo in this episode with the golf thing rather than last week with his awkward lines. The Kate/Sawyer interaction is great, as is Juliette with Jack. I love this season. I know some people are saying it’s slow, but you have to admit, every week, they bring it. I’m diggin’ it.

So I have a confession to make to all of you. I have secretly been watching 30 Rock. I’m not completely sure why. But I did like this week’s episode. Alec set Tina up on a blind date with a girl because he thought she was a lesbian, and the whole sub plot with the poker game and the tour guide was cute. Yeah, cute.

Lastly I watched Ghost Hunters. Nothing out of the ordinary, but still enjoyable.

Gilbore Girls

So Chris and Loralei are still pissing me off on Gilmore Girls. I’m really trying here folks. Especially since Ausiello dropped the November sweeps scoop (which I won’t repeat here in case you’re not a spoiler freak like me), I’ve been freaking out. I would have enjoyed Rory and Logan more if Logan’s annoying friends hadn’t been at that dinner. They were a little lovey-dovey for my taste, but I was happy to see them back together, and it was sweet how he made her find him on the roof. I really have never liked the whole Stars Hollow aspect of the show, and the pickle thing was just plain stupid. I think I’ve said it before, but at this point, I don’t know what would make me happy with this show. Maybe I’m just tired of it. The only real entertaining thing about it anymore is watching it with my old roommates because they think Christopher is the hottest, and they squeal every time he comes on screen. I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Veronica Mars was a little bit better this week. I was pleasantly surprised that the dinner scene which was all that was included in the previews was only two minutes at the beginning of the episode. I loved Matt C. as Logan’s ‘half brother’ I know I should doubt everyone in the show, but I really didn’t see the trick coming, especially since he’s been hyped as Logan’s brother for so long. I want to see Veronica and her dad working together more. It certainly makes me happy. I know the rape story line is supposed to be ending soon, but I still have no idea who it could be. I don’t know how I feel about Veronica helping the frat out, but I suppose it’s justice. If they didn’t do it, no use blaming them. I’m pretty sure there were no previews for next week, which means it will most likely be a re-run. Sadness. It’s still one of the best shows on TV.

Nip/Tuck was dare I say ‘normal’ this week. There was no sex. There was no Christian’s ass. There was no Matt. There wasn’t really any major drama. I mean the whole baby thing, but that was just unpleasant. I wasn’t onboard with the whole woman addicted to plastic surgery dying, and what not. I dunno, this episode was just lacking for me. I’ll wait till next week, when it look like Michelle, and evil scary lady are back to get revenge via Christian’s kidney. Booyah.

No Class

Is it just me, or does The Class suck? I really really liked this show when if first began, but it’s so tired after only a few episodes. Here are a few of my grievances. First, there are just too many characters. I can only remember a few names at a time. Second, it’s all over the place. It is just a consequence of having so many characters. Third, the supporting character’s steal the show. The reporter’s ‘strait’ husband overshines his wife, and for the life of me, I’m missing the ‘mama’s boy who still lives at home’ mother. ‘I just wanted you to pick up some cranberry juice.’ What a riot. Fourth, Ethan and bitter Kat are boring. And lastly, is this supposed to be a comedy or a drama? Don’t get me wrong, because I loved that Richie’s girlfriend or wife works at Lena’s building, but it was a little too serious for this supposed comedy. I think what this show needs is to scale back on characters, and follow especially Lena and Richie, they are the bright spots in what could be a dark part of CBS’ Monday night line up.

On the flip side of The Class is How I Met Your Mother, which is shaping up to be the best sitcom on TV right now. CBS can’t go wrong with Barney. Every scene he is in is amazing. Bringing Jane Seymour in as a ‘cougar’ was genius, and she better be back at some point during the season. Also Lilly brought her A-game. Stealing the boss’ signed baseball as punishment for being mean was great. I’m also happy she finally realized she is a kindergarten teacher. Maybe next time she’ll realize that she’s also meant to be with Marshall. Were Ted and Robin in this episode? That’s what I thought. I loved the cameo by Bryan Cranston from Malcolm in the Middle. Awesome.

Heroes was great, as it has been. We’re seeing an elaborate set up here, so I’m trying to sit tight, even if I’m a little confused about a few things in the show. I have confidence that all will be explained if I have patience. The buildup of the mysteries is very well written and it’s all very exciting. I’m still trying to figure out all this villain business.

I did like Studio 60 this week, but I feel like I may have been the only one. I loved all the history stuff that was brought out, but that’s just me personally because I like that sort of stuff. Unfortunately it didn’t move the story forward at all. The Matt-Harriet thing is still weird, and I’m not diggin’ them because we don’t have enough background knowledge on their previous relationship. I wasn’t quite sure what to think about DL and Matt going to the other comedy house to find a new writer. I guess I don’t know where they’re going with this story. And I don’t know if the war references were quite appropriate. Well, as of writing this NBC has ordered another three episodes of Studio 60, but they are pre-empting it next week for a test run of Friday Night Lights on Monday nights. Honestly I’m sure it will do well, because although I’m not watching the show I’ve heard great things, and I’ve also heard that Kyle Chandler is giving the performance of his career. If Friday takes 60’s Monday slot, I don’t know where 60 will fit into the schedule, and to tell you the truth, I don’t know if I’ll follow it if it moves.

‘Oh, you’re still here. Well, the movie’s over.’ Kick it.

Doctor, Doctor, Gimme the News, I Gotta Bad Case of Lovin’ You

I have to say I’ve been so impressed with the second season of Doctor Who. The character development, especially for the Doctor is spot on, and I like seeing that Rose is jealous. In this episode we saw the Doctor fall for Louis XIV’s mistress. Although the romance happened rather quickly, every time I see a glimpse of the pain and humanity in the Doctor I just melt I really do. The one thing however, that I could do without is Mickey. I did like him as comic relief on every couple of episodes, but I hope he doesn’t stick with the Doctor and Rose for much longer. His presence definitely impedes on any kind of romantic hopes I have for Rose and the Doctor. Cheers!

Regarding Saturday Night Live, I will admit that it has been slowly improving this season. I could have done without everything in this episode except for the monologue because Will Ferrell guest starred as James Lipton. I could not stop laughing, especially when he asked John C. Reilly to summon his character from Chicago: Roxie Hart. What I will say however, is that this show would be unwatchable without Amy Poehler. For sure.

Desperate Housewives was decent, but not as good as we have seen. I’m not sure if I have much more to say about it than that. Oh well.

Ugly is the New Black

Hiyo, sorry this is late. If I explained how busy I've been the last few days, it'd prolly make your head spin. So I won't. But I will let you know how I've been feeling about Thursday night shows.

First I should give a forward that I have not yet watched CSI:, and I probably won't for a while. Sorry.

I'm still diggin' McSteamy on Grey's, and I thought that the idea that him and Addison had a much longer relationship than we previously knew was extremely interesting. When she told Derek and he was devistated, I actually felt sorry for him. I think perhaps the reason I was so mad was because he was walking around the hospital like he owned the place just because Meredith had the hots for him. Interesting. I'm still against Meredith, she was a whiny school girl during this episode, and I was like 'get over it!' Seriously. The breif story line with George was okay. I don't know what's going on with Izzy, I thought the conversation she had with the Cheif of Medicine was really well acted and written. I don't understand why she can't cash the check though. That makes me nervious as all hell. And Christina and Burke, I honestly haven't heard any scoop, but I foresee a break up. Is anyone else getting that vibe. I'll tell you the rumors of what Isaah Washington has been saying around the set, do not bode well for his character, as I've already heard from several sources that they're looking to give him the axe. Bummer.

Survivor. Bleck, I don't know why I blog about it, it's always the same really.

Woah, Ugly Betty. I still can't get enough of this show. I think that if I had to pick only one show to watch that I currently watch, I would choose Ugly Betty. Even over Lost! The mystery is getting heated, and at this point I'm wondering if the hidden lady is Meade's wife. I don't know what loyalty she would have to Whilemina because she was tight with Fey, but I think assuming it's Fey is a little easy. I'm enjoying Betty and Walter, and totally looking forward to another love interest next week. (He's the cutest from Popular) And tell me you didn't melt when Daniel said: 'I don't care what happened if it means I'll lose you.' Ugh, I think I died. I am overjoyed that ABC took a chance with this show. The fact that the characters are so utterly relatable makes watching it so much more fun. The jokes are topical, and there's someone you can identify with around every corner. The supporting characters, most notably the other two assistants are deliciously evil. I will cry a million tears if this show ever goes away.

Nice Speech

Let's get right into the dirt okay folks. The first show I watched tonight was One Tree Hill, which, surprisingly didn't bother me half as much as it has the last few weeks. I think a big reason is because the Peyton-stalker storyline was a big part of the episode as was Brooke and her fake pregnancy. I will conceed to my roommate, because Brook was indeed covering for Haylie who is scared that if Nathan finds out he will abandon her just like his father abandoned Karen. Make any sense? I told you it's a soap opera. But I was happy to see more Brooke, I still think she has the best lines in the whole show. Her character is sad, but so damn snarky on the outside. She has some seriously sharp writing going for her as well. But back to Peyton's 'brother' being her stalker. First Derek lied and said Lucas would not speak to Peyton if Brooke took him back. Which, if Peyton thought about that even for a second she would have realized that is the one thing Lucas wouldn't agree to for Brooke. Then he was being creepy and smelling her hair, and it's a good thing Lucas saw him doing it. The last scene however was the most frightening. We find Derek in his hotel room with all the photos of Peyton plastered on his wall, and then there's a prostitute with a blonde wig in order to look like Peyton. And we as viewers think that's bad enough. . . until. . . Derek lifts up his shirt revealing that he has a tatoo of a drawing that Peyton gave him (of herself) that spans his entire back. Woah, I think he's brought the creep factor up a significant amount. Possibly the best part of this last scene was my two roommates covering their mouths and screaming, you know really girlie screams. I couldn't stop laughing, they're hilarious. The weak link, as it has been since the show began was Dan. How many times do I have to say this: HE IS NOT REDEAMABLE! He killed his brother in cold blood, he does not get to have a life.

Next I decided to stick around and watch the season finale of Project Runway. One word can describe it: predictable. It guess it was kind of disappointing, especially since most entertainment sources leaked some of the collection photos a few weeks ago, and I predicted then that Jeffrey would win, even though everyone knows Michael would have won based on his performance before Bryant Park. We all knew Jeffrey would be able to present on the Runway, and I honestly didn't doubt that the work was his own, and the whole situation was blown way out of proportion. I think Laura instantly regretted accusing him of anything the second she told Tim Gunn. The show was a wash, but this season was fun, and I hope that they have a season again in January. So long Project Runway.

After PR, I rushed home to watch Ghost Hunters on my Tivo, and it wasn't nearly as exciting as last week, especially with the storm that rolled in while they were investigating the OK Corral. However, the evidence of the bed sheet moving had me convinced. I'll hope for better next week, but I think that's what makes Ghost Hunters good show is that Sci-Fi is so comfortable with the format that not every week has to have outstanding evidence. I used to be the biggest fan of Most Haunted, but as I stated last week, Ghost Hunters is superior because they don't assume every dust orb is a ghost, and they try to debunk everything they come across. So when evidence is collected, it means a whole heck of a lot more.

Then I decided to watch South Park, which I found a little boring. I do feel however that part of that boredom stems from the fact that I have never seen Dog: Bounty Hunter. So I think a lot of the jokes were lost on me. It was kind of funny that nobody cared that a female teacher was having an affair; even if it was a kindergarten teacher having sex with her 5 year old student. Matt, Trey. . . what happened to the boys who made 'Trapped in the Closet?'

And the last show of the night was Lost for me. I wasn't digging tonight's episode. Okay, I get it Locke was even more unfortunate after his 'dad' stole his kidney, and his girlfriend left him because he was being a tool. The CG polar bear was horrific, and I thought Charlie was, if possible, more annoying than we left him last season. The one high point were the cute boys in this episode. Yay for Boone being back, and that hot police officer, and Rodrigo Santoro's one line. One last thing, what the heck was up with the previews for next week. Holy crap right.

My shows for tonight are Ugly Betty, Survivor, Grey's Anatomy, and CSI:. However, I do have a 5 page paper due tomorrow, and I'll actually be out of town for a journalism conference (which means it needs to be in super duper early), so I'm not sure if I'll get to everything. But I will certainly do what I can. Kick it!

You Can Actually Hear the Smiles

Hey everybody! Before I post my thoughts on the bajillion shows I watched last night, I wanted to give a shout out to everyone who's been commenting. I'm so happy that the TV Guide blogging community is so tight-knit that people who don't know me would comment on my blog, which I'm sure many of you know is rare on other more general blogging sites. And I certainly do my best to comment on my friends blogs, and blogs that are interesting to me. So thanks for making this blogging experience so nice for me. I love reading what everyone has to say, whether or not they agree with me, I appreciate everyone's opinions, and it helps me get a better view of the shows that I love so much. So again, thank you.

On a somewhat related note, I have decided to switch the focus of this blog from several shows a night to just one show per day. I think it will allow me to expand on my thoughts of one show at a time. I will do my best not to cover the same show two weeks in a row. I'll still be watching all the shows, and I've actually started a blog on blogger ( http://confessionsofatvaddict.blogspot.com/ ) where I'll cover everything, but just for TV Guide I'm going to do one show per day and be more specific with my reviews. I hope that's okay with everyone. But, I will do all the shows I watched last night, okay.

I don't know what to think of Gilmore anymore because it's lost its sparkle for me. And it's frustrating, because I can't exactly pin point what it is about the show that isn't there for me. I thought Christopher and Loralei were okay, but I wasn't buying something about their relationship. She seems awfully in love with him for just having broken up with who were were lead to believe was the love of her life, and after Christopher abandoned her. Yes, it was 20 years ago, but it doesn't make the act any less horrible. Rory's new friends are random, and obnoxious. Paris was cute, but since when does she tolerate people talking back to her? And what can I really say about Luke and April. This storyline just hurts, and it has since it began last year. The one highlight was Emily getting arrested, but even that was dragged out by Loralei. Where is Amy Sherman-Palladino when you need her?

Veronica Mars was not there for me tonight either. As I've stated before on the blog, I know there are a lot of Logan-Veronica (LoVe) fans out there, but this coupling has never quite been real for me. The closest it came was during the first season. Their relationship is strained, and I know she has a 'thing for bad boys,' but they seem to have nothing in common, and no chemistry or connection anymore. Plus, the other thing I'm bugged by is the fact that Aaron's death has not yet been mentioned this season, and I for the life of me cannot figure out why Logan is in college. He's got all this money, and no motivation to go to classes. Why not just roll around in 100 dollar bills all day? That's what I would expect him to do. I also thought the almost break-up and then super quick make-up at the end of the episode was silly. Also, I'm still missing Keith. Yes, I know he was in it a bit more this past episode, but I wish this show would treat college like high school Veronica as far as what they show. The last two seasons had a seamless way of integrating school scenes, detective scenes, and scenes with Keith. The highlight of the show was seeing Weevel(sp?) back. Although he was kinda chunky, I love that he's on campus. I don't know if I'm looking forward to next week because Keith already knows Logan, Veronica has dated him before. So I'm confused as to how the next episode was portrayed in the trailer.

The last show of the night was Nip/Tuck, and although this episode didn't pack quite the punch that it has in the last few weeks, it was still good. I was impressed with the way they conveyed how Sean was scared to give his kidney to Liz. Kimber sleeping with Christian was an interesting turn of events that I wasn't expecting, but she was stupid to think that Christian would actually be interested in Scientology, and ridiculous for having revenge sex with Matt. The best part of this episode was the friendship forged between Dawn Budge and Liz. Also, how sad was Vincent (Starry Starry Night) playing during Dawn's ear surgery. The emotion between Dawn and Liz was refreshing, and I felt the desperation and lonliness in both of them. On an interesting side note it was reported on IMDB today that Rosie O'Donnell is getting her own spin-off as Dawn Budge. I don't know any of the details other than Rosie said everything was set, and that it will be shot in New York so she can still shoot The View. I don't know what angle they'll take on it, or what relation it will have to Nip/Tuck, but I would certainly love to see Liz on the show in a bigger role.

Just Us & Other Things (10/17/06)

Monday night, you know what that means! That's right, a full line-up! Again with the over usage of the exclaimation marks, I'm really sorry, I just can't help myself.

The night started off great with How I Met Your Mother. I cannot stress enough how enamored I was with the Barney-Lily storyline. I mean I don't want them to get together or anything, but it was fantastic. I couldn't stop laughing at Marshall and his 'bro' it was just too funny. The weak link was Ted and Robin, they were almost unecessary. All they did was heckle Marshall. But on the whole, it was awsome.

The Class was next, and I'm pretty sure 'Darlene' is Richie's girlfriend, not wife as some had assumed, but we don't know for sure. And what a shocker that she's a janitor in Lina's office. I adored the physical comedy that Lina has. The weak link was Ethan and Kat. C'mon, frozen yolgurt samples?

I'm loving Heroes, and I'll definetly stick with it; however, I fear that it is becoming too much of a cult show. I know the ratings are fine for now, but as we get farther into the episodes I'm afraid more and more people will drop off because it's too convoluted. It's a double edged sword because you don't want it to be generalized for the public, because its comic book appeal is what makes it so unique, but if you don't have an audience, you don't have a show. Especially not on network television. But this episode set up a lot for us.

Why did I watch Brian? I dunno, maybe I thought it would be good. It was a temporary brain lapse that lasted for an hour. It was decent, especially compared to last week, but still boring. What I realize while watching the show is that I have no emotional connection to any of these characters. Part of that is that we're given barely any background. Do we even know why nobody was there to walk Margie down the aisle? I really don't think so. The flashbacks were okay, but they could have done with one or two instead of what four or five. "You're my best friend Brian, you always will be." Yeah whatever. I predict I'll watch next week, but I still don't know why.

Studio 60 wasn't quite there for me this week. I'm confused about the writer, and I felt like this show didn't really have a plot. Here's what happened, the journalist found out stuff about Matt and Harriet, Jordan tried to get Danny's help to get a show for the network. Do you see a beginning, middle, and ending there? I don't even know if there was a climax. Stories are supposed to have climaxes. Also, I realize that perhaps the writers looked at this as a two part episode since next week will pick up the second where we left off, but there was no rise in action. I will watch next week, but if I was a first time viewer, I would not be compelled to continue. That's what two part episodes are for, build suspense and leave the audience drooling for more. There was no saliva involved tonight folks. Still good drama though.

No Desperation Here (10/16/06)

I love, love, loved last night's episode of Desperate Housewives. Let's go character by character and I'll get to the point.

Edie Brit, I don't care where you've been, because you're back! I knew she was going to pull a fast one on Mike, but I didn't think I'd be as amused as I was. 'Susan is like a stalker.'

Speaking of Susan, she's the only one that I'm iffy about at this point. I actually like the tension she has with Dougray Scott, but I don't like her character still. I'm having trouble imagining what I'd like to see for the character of Susan this season.

Gabby was, as always great comedic releif, with her stilletos digging into the side of the cop car as she resisted arrest. I loved it, and I don't know if I want her and Carlos to get back together, partially because I enjoy them together when they're fighting. Great scenes.

Would you take $50 to throw a soft pitch in a little league game? I know I would have. Pennies meant a lot to me when I was that old. I thought Lynette and Tom were awsome this week. We got to see them fighting, working, and growing together. It's sweet really.

Ya know what else is sweet? Bree. Yeah that's right, I'm just gonna put that out there. I am honestly intrigued by the 'why did Orson hit Mike' storyline. It's totally 1st season, and I love it. I am also really happy that Andrew is back and being civil. I am glad he didn't come back being the ass that he was last season because I couldn't stand it. I am also enjoying the whole 'Danielle is sleeping with her teacher' thing.

Desperate Housewives, I am so proud of you for getting back to your roots. I couldn't be happier that I've tuned in this season because the show right now is everything that I fell in love with two years ago.

I'll be back in a few hours with a review on How I Met Your Mother, The Class, Heroes, Studio 60, and maybe a something snarky About Brian. . . that is unless my internet isn't working like last night which is why I'm writing on Desperate Housewives right now. I digress; kick it.

CSI: Back on Track? (10/15/06)

Not sure if it was just me, but I really liked Thursday's episode of CSI:. Now, granted, this does not involve Kevin Federline in any respect. What struck me most was the cinematography of the episodes. It was very noir, especially with the shadows. It was well written, and an original plot line, which I thought as far as CSI: was concerned, was impossible. The one thing I would complain about was the hand held camera movements during the attacks, which were disjointed from the rest of the episode. On the whole, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this episode.

On a different note I also watched Doctor Who, and it was pretty swell. I loved seeing Anthony Head (Giles on Buffy) and it was also an interesting turn in the story by realizing for certain that Rose is not the first companion the Doctor has had. I am growing more and more fond of the new Doctor with each episode.

It's Laugh Out Loud Funny (10/13/06)

What is it about Ugly Betty that is so refreshing, amazing, and unique. I laughed the whole episode, and I can't get over it. America is the freshest face on TV, and although this story is a remake of a telenovela it is so different from what is on TV right now. The comedy is the best on TV, and the mystery and intrigue is a nice underlying theme. This story could go anywhere, and I also appreciate that flexibility.

Grey's had its ups and downs tonight. Here's what I liked and didn't like.
I liked that Marc Sloan is here for good (even though I knew it a few weeks ago); I liked that Addison was thrown through a loop with him being there, and what I liked the best was when Kaleigh and Marc left the bar together. What I didn't like was more of the Izzy-Denny storyline (I liked it last year, but it's being dragged out far too long); I didn't like that Christina wouldn't shut up for two second to let Burke talk; and what I disliked the most for the second week in a row was Derek and Meredith. I'm still miffed by how quickly my feelings changed about them. Not that Meredith hasn't always been a whiney selfish person, but I can't stand her. It really sucks that the show is named after her, meaning that she can't leave. Damn.

What can I ever say about Survivor. Although it was somewhat amusing that the expedition the Aitu tribe took landed them on Raro's Island. I'm not digging this season, but I'll still keep watching.

South Park was back to the same old potty humor, but it was nice to see those Hardley Boys at work. I'll hope for a bit of improvement next week. But it's hard because the season premiere was so awsome.

I wasn't able to catch CSI: just yet, not that I'm looking forward to what sounds like a stellar performance by K-Fed (awsome comments on my last post guys).

You Taste Like Fish Biscuit (10/12/06)

I watched some new stuff tonight, and some old favorites. Overall Wednesday wasn't half bad.

I began the night with 30 Rock, which I won't be watching again. I love Tina Fey, but she was not the best actress on the pilot. I enjoyed Rachel Dratch the most out of anyone. And as much as I liked Tracy Morgan on SNL, he should have stayed there. The show was disappointing.

Then One Tree Hill was on, and I really don't know why I keep watching. The biggest problem I have is that Dan is in no way redeamable, and I feel like the writers are trying to make things better with him being nice to Lucas' mom. No way. Also Rachel wanting Nathan is ridiculous. Just stupid. Now the one storyline I can get behind is the one about Payton having a brother, and he's actually a stalker. Oh, and to Kim and Laura, I still think Brooke is pregnant.

And then there was Lost. It really does stand alone. I felt myself panicing (sp?) everytime a commercial break set in. Thank god for Tivo. The Jin and Sun thing is so compelling. As are those darn others. I can't get enough info about them, and their interpersonal relationships. Also the fact that they have access to the outside is mind boggling, and I'm looking forward to a long LostCast (that's the lost podcast I listen to). Kate, Jack, and Sawyer are super interesting, and I just can't get over this show. I can't.

Project Runway was next, and I don't like Jeffrey, but I really felt bad for him when Laura called him out. I didn't see her as trying to be a villain, because personally I would have done the same thing, however I think she felt just as bad when she told him, and when Tim Gunn came in to talk to him about it. We already know he shows during fashion week, but beyond that, we have no clue. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the runway pressure in the actual season finale next week.

Lastly was a show I forgot was premiering tonight that I love: Ghost Hunters. I was originally turned on to this show by my roommate Kim. I used to like a british show called Most Haunted, and she wanted to get me a DVD for my birthday, but they only sold it in region 2 DVDs, so she got me Ghost Hunters which is so much superior. Why? Because they go into a house and try to prove that it's not haunted, so when you actually get phenomenon it's that much sweeter because they've tried everything they could to debunk previous experiences. This season premiere was awsome. Not quite as good as the cape from season one, but this one show was better than every single show from last season combined. I'm interested that they are doing a tour of the southwest, it's nice to see them get out of New England, because I think they were not finding as many true hauntings so close to home. I hope this season is going to be as kick ass as this first episode was.

Did anyone watch Ghost Hunters or stay tuned for Sci Fi Investigates, with Rob from Survivor, who is apparently an expert in something having to do with odd experiences. I dunno. Tonight was pretty chill.

What a Night For Getting Hit by a Bus (10/10/06)

Oh Gilmore, what can I say about you. This episode was better than the last few, but I was bored. And I'm never bored watching Gilmore. Highlights: Rory "texting" Logan, Lane's pregnancy trepidation, and Michelle's interaction with the little girls. Lowlights: Loralei. I did think that bringing Richard and Emily back into the picture helped but this season is just off. Which is unfortunate seeing as it's pretty common knowledge it will be the last.

Veronica Mars was intriguing. I want to see more of her Dad, and her, and that snappy dialogue, and the noir undertones. I know this season is just warming up, but just as there is something missing with Gilmore, Veronica seems to have lost part of what makes her so special; individuality.

Nip/Tuck has some spectacular moments. The opening gay sequence was thrilling, especially since I kinda knew it was a dream, but didn't really. So that insecurity was stellar. The nanny coming back to "feed" the baby herself was just plain Nip/Tuck fun, as was the shocker that Burt was seeing Brooke Shields who is crazy and clearly in love with Christian. They should totally get together, they're a match made in crazy heaven. Sanaa was stunning while she acted the part of Michelle during the sex scene in front of her husband. I found myself tearing up, I really felt for her. I'm diggin' it. What I wasn't diggin' was the crazy guy in Sean's ear. Eww, gross. But what take's the cake was the nanny getting hit by the bus. It was awsome!

Less Than Three Hours of My Life (10/9/06)

My thoughts on Heroes are as follows: Did that cheerleader seriously say OMG? I do also wonder what the relationship is between the dead professor and that girl in the apartment complex. I'm enjoying the depth of the cheerleader, but I still don't get why she's so mad at the kinda weird guy. I suppose he's just saying what she doesn't want to hear. I totally yelled when the whole sylar thing went down and he was shot then got back up. What is he, and what is up with his apartment? That quarterback can smooth talk like nobody's business. But the rape thing, not so hot. The ending sure packed a punch, and something about Peter wet from the rain is so hot. Still looking forward to next week. This show is awfully compelling.

It's the season premiere of What About Brian; I watched it last season, so I feel like I have to at least watch this episode. However, I'm kind of upset that they skipped 6 months ahead. It was necessary for ratings, but in Brianland, I'm sure a lot actually happened. I just thought it was a cop-out. The car crash was a surprise, but what a horrible opening theme song. Ughk. The whole show could be summed up in one word: contrived. I'll probably watch next week to see if she actually goes through with the nuptuals, which she won't, but much farther than that I really can't say. What a yawn.

Studio 60 seems to be back in full form. I was somewhat on the edge of my seat wating for what was going to happen with the plagerized material, although I wasn't buying so much the Harriet Matt non-relationship. I feel like I don't know the characters well enough to identify with either of them, which is a problem.

Oh what a night it's been. I'll be back tomorrow with Gilmore, Veronica, and Nip/Tuck. Can you stand it. TV ROCKS! Kick it.

Things Are Getting McSteamy (10/9/06)

I've sure been busy watching lots of TV. So busy in fact that I haven't had a chance to report on all of them. But I certainly will now.

I'm not sure how I forgot, but I watched the season premiere of South Park on Wednesday night, and it was awsome. I don't play World of Warcraft or any online or video games for that matter, but my brothers do, and I gave them a call immdeiatly. South Park hit the mark with this one, and I thought it was a great start to the season, I can't wait for what's next.

Survivor is just one of those things that I have to watch, mostly so I can catch up on the Armchair Survivor Podcast. It was decent, when isn't it?

Ugly Betty was perfect for a second week. I don't know what this show could do wrong that would make me turn the channel. And those telenovelas with Selma are adorable. I love this show.

CSI: was usual. I'm really getting bored with this show, and the 'subtle' hints to Sara and Grissom's relationship are so akward. This episode had 4 vignettes about different cases, and had the dead talking to one another. It wasn't compelling, I just didn't get it.

But what definetly takes the cake was Grey's Anatomy simply because Eric Dane, a.k.a. McSteamy is now a series regular. And every time he was on screen I melted. I was needless to say a big puddle by the end of the episode. I'm still hating McDreamy and Meredith, and the whole competition thing is still super stupid. I am so over her selfishness. I think the rest of the viewership may agree with me.

Friday means one thing: Doctor Who! This episode was set in the 1870's and involved werewolves. The whole episode was awsome. I just sat there soaking it all in, thinking how seriously awsome it was.

So, foolishly I decided to watch Saturday Night Live. Fortunately it was on my Tivo, so I was able to fast forward through the whole thing. And yes, I did, even. . . sad to say. . . Weekend Update. It was a nightmare. A nightmare.

Desperate Housewives was good. Not great, but good. Susan's back and forth with Dougray Scott was annoying. But even worse was Nora, Felicity Huffman's annoying step daughter's mom. I hope she does seriously die. Gabby's trist with John was pretty good. And I know there's a scandelous twist coming up with Edie and Doug, so I'm looking forward to that.

How I Met Your Mother was decent as well. It certainly got better once I realized that Barney was the one masquerading as Ted.

I'm still standing by The Class, and what a shocker at the end. Darlene is suicide guy's girlfriend! OH NO!

So I'm caught up, however I still have Heroes, Studio 60 and What About Brian to watch tonight. So I'm gonna try to write while I watch, just some random thoughts. I'll be back in a few hours!

I'm Lost & Loving It (10/5/06)

One Tree Hill. . . what happened to you? You're not interesting anymore, and I thought I loved you, but I found that over the summer I didn't miss you anymore. So I think we need to take a break. I'll give you a call next week, and we can see where we stand. And Dan is still Satan.

Project Runway was intense to say the least. I haven't had a chance to listen to Tim Gunn's podcast yet, but everything with Keith was just uncomfortable, and Vincent was still the biggest ass, I mean to him everyone is an amateur, and nobody's opinions matter but his own. I thought it was decently structured, and they had soft and hard questions. I also liked that we saw never before aired footage, like the models fainting, and Vincent swearing like a sailor when his clothes were washed incorrectly. I'm interested to see the Jeffrey drama that happens next week. Especially because, from what I've seen of the collections, much to my dismay his looked the best.

But the show that definetly takes the cake for Wednesday night, and probably the week was: (drum roll please) LOST! My mouth was open during the whole beginning scene with the book club, and then the crash, and then we saw Fake Henry/Fenry who's real name is Ben apparently. My jaw was unhinged. I was in shock. I love Lost, I don't think I can say that enough. I never have any idea what's going to happen when, and I love the unpredictability. It's amazing. The flashbacks were interesting, and at least we know Jack's dad wasn't having an affair with his wife. I also find particularly interesting the drastically different treatment of the three different hostages. I can't wait for next week, and I love that feeling, that's what TV is about.

For Thursday I'll be watching Survivor, Ugly Betty, Grey's Anatomy, and CSI:. I feel like I'm forgetting something. Oh well, if I do, it'll be in the blog. Thanks for reading-- kick it.

I Couldn't Think of a Clever Title (10/4/06)

Whassup Whassup Whassup! Featured huh? Okay, so I totally called all my friends to tell them. Thanks for all the awsome comments, it's nice to stir up discussion.

So Gilmore was a letdown for me today. It could just be me. I liked that Luke punched Chris. Not because I prefer either one, but because it was fun. I liked that there was a lot of Hello Kitty in the Gilmore house. I love Hello Kitty. But I thought although the fight scene between Loralei and Rory was well-written, Alexis (Rory) dropped the ball on her delivery. I thought she was reading off of cue cards or something. And I'm still not buying Loralei feeling half as horrible as she should. I won't give up, but c'mon, gimme something to work with. Bring Logan and Paris back.

Veronica was AWSOME! But a roommate named Pizz? I was super confused about the guy Keith got out of jail, and I knew something was shady with him the whole episode. The depth that Dick has magically gotten could be very interesting if it's written well. Which, let's face it, it will be. I though the sweaty Logan/Veronica non-sex scene was unecessary, and somewhat random. Do they have chemistry? Maybe it's just me, I could be missing it. I know there are an awful lot of fans out there. Why isn't he going to class? Logan c'mon. I think the rape story is interesting, and the bust will certainly be gratifying. I'm glad she's living at home. Can't wait until next week.

Nip/Tuck had one great payout: revealing that Michelle is not quite an escort. . . she's an organ theif!!!!! DUN Dun dun! I so called that she was more than an escort. I'm curious to see where the Scientology thing goes. And next week looks GOOD. (that's right folks, I used all caps for the third time in one post)

And of the 50 minutes I saw of Eureka I wasn't impressed. I think Battlestar Galactica ran over, so my Tivo didn't record the last 10 minutes of the show. Which sucks because there are no repeats of the season finale, and I don't want to pay $1.99 on iTunes for 10 minutes.

Whatever. I'll be back tomorrow for LOST, finally! One Tree Hill, and the Project Runway Reunion show. Should be interesting. Until then, kick it.

You Dress Like Them. . . But You Talk Like One of Us (10/2/06)

First and foremost, before I forget, I watched Saturday Night Live this weekend. And it was that utterly forgettable. I am seriously a huge Dane Cook fan, and just like his previous show, I was totally disappointed. Looks like we're in for yet another crap season. (Exept for Amy and Seth on Weekend Update)

Okay, now on to actual business. The Class tonight had the best physical comedy. The reporter getting beaned on the head with the stop sign, and Lena rolling away in the Hurricane were hilarious. I also loved the final break-up scene with the leather jacket and lovers. I love laugh-out loud comedy.

How I Met Your Mother wasn't the best tonight, but it was still funny. Lily and Marshall were the best part! (Sexy calves) But I've seen better. I'm sure next week will step it up.

I felt like Heroes was a filler episode, but we're only on the second one, so I'm probably being a little harsh. The single mom from Las Vegas is super creepy, as is the evil guy who is very Agent Smithesque. Probably the glasses. I don't know where this show is going, and I think that's a good thing.

Studio 60 was just as intense, but somewhat lacking. I was listening to a podcast, or reading a review somewhere about the show that said, yeah, it's great and all, but the sketches within the show are not funny. I agree, I wasn't laughing at anything done in the show within the show. And the clapping montage really confused me at first. I'll still keep tuning in though.

So for tomorrow, it's Gilmore, Veronica Mars (Hurrah!), Eureka, and Nip/Tuck. Kick it!

So Much TV, So Little Time (10/1/06)

Whoa, so I finally caught up with TV this weekend, and what a week it's been. Here are my thoughts on this past week in TV land:

Finally got a chance to watch Heroes, and although I found that I had been avoiding the premiere, once I started watching I had no idea why. It is well written, anyone can follow along (not just comic book people), and they've got a great cast. I do however worry that the cast may get too large, however I am really looking forward to some of these people beginning to interact with one another. And yes, the Japanese guy is the best!

I also got around to watching Studio 60, and I have to say I was slightly less annoyed with Amanda Peet. Bradley Whitford and Matthew Perry have the best chemistry, and who can forget Sarah Paulson. She's amazing. I can't get over this show, it's dramatic it's funny, it's intense, and I really have such feelings for these characters after two episodes. Wow.

Although my Tivo deleted some programs, I was able to catch them online. And I have to say I'm pretty impressed with the free episodes on CBS and ABC.

Survivor was nerve-wracking. I really liked Becky, not quite sure why, probably just because I want to see what plays out with her and Yul. I was glad the tribes were brought together, but the challenge was disappointing. We saw this same challenge I think two survivors ago, and it was great then, but somehow not as compelling this time around. And I certainly didn't care that Cece was voted out. But what the heck is Cowboy still doing there. Don't let Cowboy and Flicka make it to the final two. I'm telling you.

CSI: was decent, but not as great as I suspected it would be. As some of you know I was stoked after the last 10 minutes from last week. However the storyline kind of fizzled. They could have made Catherine's storyline so much more than it turned out to be. Also, what's up with the rocker's case not being solved. I hope next week is better. We're seeing a lapse in writing on this show, in my opinion. I want a jaw dropper every episode.

Grey's Anatomy was definetly better this week. At least as far as everyone, but Meredith and her love polygon is concerned. Christina with Burke's parents was great, George being jealous of Kallie = awsome, Izzie baking/getting her job back was refreshing. Meredith, Derek, and Finn, now in a dating contest is ridiculous. She must be really good in bed, because she's got the mopey personality of Droopy. Yeah, that dog that used to be on cartoons. But, by far the best moment was the last scene, when McSteamy walked out of the steamy bathroom in Addison's hotel room. Now that was jaw dropping.

I also was able to watch Ugly Betty which has been getting unbelievable reviews. And ya know what, they've all been right. I love this show, and I will absolutly continue to watch. American Ferara is amazing, and the rest of the cast couldn't be better. I laughed so many times during the pilot, and I can't wait for next week.

Doctor Who, season 2 is finally in America. I still need to get used to our new doctor, but I can't get over these silly hijinks. If you want a great comedy somewhat sci-fi show, definetly check it out!

Project Runway this week was really lackluster. It seems as though this show has lost its momentum. It began as a must see and turned into a catch it on the billionth re-run on Bravo. I wasn't surprised all four were sent to Fashion Week, because last year four had to do collections, because the episode where the last person was voted off was aired after fashion week. The same thing happened here. The challenge was un-interesting, and the only good thing that came out of this episode was the previews for the Reunion show next week.

Desperate Housewives wasn't as good as last week, but it was decent. That's really all I have to say, if that tells you anything.

So the last thing I'll review is the last half of season 2 of Veronica Mars. I am psyched! Although I pretty much knew there was no way her dad could have died on the plane, I was certainly, in no respect anywhere close to guessing Cassidy/Beaver. I thought him and Mac were cute together. I'm deathly scared of the Irish crime family in Neptune, confused about what will happen with Wallace/Jackie, and are we supposed to know where Veronica is going to school in the fall, because she didn't win the scholarship because she went to see the verdict. I was also weirded out by how quickly her and Logan got back together. I feel like if I would have watched the TV show when it aired, and not in one weekend, it would have felt like a more natural progression, but it didn't to me at least. But I can't wait until Tuesday, absolutely can't wait.

Veronica, Singular Trees & Sci-Fi's Epiphany (9/28/06)

Hey everyone! So, last night I got a chance to watch a couple of shows and at least one was everything I hoped it would be, and more.

One Tree Hill had its season premiere last night and honestly it wasn't that bad. Last year my roommates got me addicted to this show, which I had previously refused to watch. But I can't turn down a good soap. There are somethings we found out, and others remain a mystery.

We found out that Rachel told Cooper she was pregnant, but she wasn't. That Nathan and Rachel are okay, but Cooper is still in a coma. Nathan didn't rescue Rachel, even though she thinks he did. Brooke is pregnant w/ Lucas's baby (she found out after she broke up with him), and Payton has a brother named Derek. Oh, and Chad Michael Murray is still a douche.

We however, did not find out if Dan is just crazy or if someone else knows he killed Keith. We're also not really sure what's going to happen with Payton and Lucas.

Next week Rachel apparently becomes obsessed with Nathan because she thinks he saved her.

Watched Eureka on the Tivo, and again it was alright, but nothing stellar. I keep tuning in and expecting something great from this show because it has the set up, it has the capabilities. But every week I'm left feeling empty, like something is missing. I will tell you however, what isn't missing: Colin Ferguson being gorgeous, hilarious, and spot on with his dry comedic delivery. I still have hopes for this show, and if it starts to develop its mythology in a smart way it could become something big.

Finally I got the last two episodes of Veronica Mars from Netflix. (Someone asked a couple of posts ago if I like it, and I don't. . . I LOVE NETFLIX!) So Aaron killed Lily eh? I didn't figure him for being that evil, until I looked back and realized um yeah, he is. He belts his son, literally! Oh, and the whole rape episode, Duncan huh? During the whole scene where she confronted him and they were crying, my mouth was agape. And I bawled like a baby when she found out her dad really is her dad. Oh, and her mom! What a whore!

Then I began the second season, and the bus crash thing is eerie. I was totally thrown by the whole leaving Logan for Duncan thing. I don't know what it is about the actor that plays Duncan, but he bothers the crap out of me. He has this baby face, and I don't know, I just don't like him, and I don't like him with Veronica. But at this point, Logan is being like the hugest jerk. Something about Steve Gutenberg also doesn't sit well with me. We shall see.

I'm holing myself up in my room this weekend watching the rest of Veronica Mars to catch up for the season premiere, and clearing out the 16 movies on my Tivo.

Well, the hockey line is cold, but the warm glow of the TV is sure to keep the cold away. Go Badgers, and kick it!

Stephen Moneypenny & Nip/Tuck's Big Hit (9/28/06)

Note: This was supposed to be posted Tuesday night, but my internet wasn't working.

Well life's gotten a little more complicated since we last spoke.
Although the test went fine this morning, I have another one today and
I have to sit outside for Badger Hockey tickets. So that's bad news
for my TV watching habits. Oh well, at least I'll be getting more
Veronica Mars so I can watch it while I'm sleeping outside.

Gilmore was usual. The episode seemed right at home with previous
episodes. I was pleasantly surprised that the producer change didn't
have more of a dramatic effect. Rory and Logan were great, and who
can get enough of Paris? Not me. The red light thing, and the car
crashing into Luke's diner was kind of confusing. Oh, and I'm
ignoring the pink elephant in the room: Loralei. I was warned her
performance wasn't stellar, and I don't think her character had the
greatest script to work with, but I just didn't get it. I hear she
has a huge break down next episode, which I would have expected this
episode. However the writers feel that Loralei is a stronger
character than that. Oh well.

Nip/Tuck was actually pretty good. I was super duper weirded out by
Sean going back to that crazy almost nanny, and the pot brownies?
Where the heck did that come from? I thought the storyline between
the nanny and Julia was great, and I knew about Liz getting an organ
taken, but I forgot completely, so that was actually a pseudo
surprise. But the best 'gotcha' moment was when Michelle's (Sanaa)
whatever, weird friend came in, asking for a face change on the girl
and then hit her with the marble ball. I was like OMG! I don't know
if I'm digging the whole Christian-Michelle thing, and certainly not
if he's going to be blackmailed for it as the previews suggested. I
was sort of happy with Michelle's call girl explanation, but geez
there has got to be more to it than that. The lady groped her and the
surgery thing. I dunno, there has to be something more there.

Still haven't had a chance for Heroes and Studio 60, but I will
tomorrow after the season premiere of One Tree Hill!

Why Do I Have Tests In College? (9/25/06)

Okay, so I've watched The Class and How I Met Your Mother, but, due to a mid term tomorrow, I literally had to fight with myself to turn the TV off and watch Heroes and Studio 60 later. That's what my Tivo is for right? Right? Oh, I want to watch them so badly!

The Class was pretty good. Again that one guy's mother and that one girl's 'strait' husband totally showed up the rest of the cast. And I can't get enough of that guy who keeps trying to commit suicide. Now if only I could get their names down.

HIMYM was hysterical. I don't know if that's spelled right. You'd think a journalism student would know how to spell, but not so much. I really liked this episode. They toned down the Ted/Robin romance, and the 2nd to last scene with Lily and Marshall was heartbreaking. Allison Hannigan's performance was perfect! But what takes the cake was the last scene with Barney, the twins and Lily (with and without her hat) I laughed for seriously 5 minutes after the episode ended.

And then the war with the remote and I began as I had to make the monumental decision as to whether I should study or watch at least another 2 hours of television. Well, less than that. I mean, if TV is my best friend, then the Tivo is my lover.

Okay, the euphamisms have gone far enough, and so has my procrastination. I suspect there will be another post later tonight or in the wee hours of the morning regarding my first impression of Heroes, which has been highly touted, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. I wasn't expecting much from this one, but I fell in love with the pilot. (Minus Amanda Peet anyways. . . it's that smirk. I just want to punch it off her face. I hope she takes a long maternaty break later in the season.)

My New Love & 1 More Premiere (9/24/06)

So, it's official, I've found yet another favorite TV show: Veronica Mars. I've got two episodes left in the first season, and I won't be able to watch them, and start the second season until Tuesday. BIG BUMMER. But I should be grateful Netflix works that fast.

Seriously I want to be Veronica Mars. That's bad right? It's an amazing show, the dialogue is superb, the writing is crisp, and the flow of the show is sooo smooth. As far as TV goes today, it's right up there with the best. I can't wait for the season premiere, especially now that it's paired with Gilmore. Like I needed one more show to watch. But, 15 hours straight of VM on Saturday should tell me something. . . I'm addicted.

On a side note, I watched the season premiere of Desperate Housewives, and don't kill me, but I have hopes for the season. I mean as long as we don't lose anymore writers/producers like last year. I mean I love Bree. Mostly because I'm as obsessive compulsive as her, and seriously guys, who doesn't love Felicity Huffman these days? Her and Bill Macy are the cutest!

Kinda Disappointed (9/22/06)

So I'm pseudo disappointed in the shows I watched tonight. Survivor was regular, at this point, I look forward to my favorite Survivor podcast: Armchair Survivor more than the show. What was up with Billy saying he was in love with Candace. I'm so confused.

Okay, so I watched Grey's, and I'll tell you that I have watched every single episode as it originally aired. Yes, that's right, this blog is called 'confessions of a tv addict' for a reason. I really am a TV addict. But, I was not really happy with the events, with the way it was written and I dunno, something was just off. The plague story line was weak, which was especially upsetting with someone as great as Steve Harris doing a cameo. I was looking for some deeper reflecting from Izzie, and why the heck wasn't Christina with Burke? The one thing I did like was the flashbacks, but the love parallelagram that is Derek, Meredith, Addison, George, and Fin is quickly becoming tired and old. How dare Derek make Meredith choose when he is still very much with his wife. Kudos to Addison for posting the panties, and a big boo hiss to George for failing to tell Kaleigh he loved her AGAIN! (Although I wouldn't want to say it in front of Derek anyway). The previews for next week looked better than the season premiere, and back to what makes Grey's such a standard.

I taped CSI: since I was Tivoing Grey's and honestly the whole episode was average until the last 15 minutes when Katherine was date raped and Grissom takes us on a tour through a mini murder scene that mocks it's larger companion. I am looking forward to next week.

For tomorrow night I'll be laying low. I'm going out to a B-day dinner and prolly watching Most Haunted and hopefully one or two of the ten movies I have saved on the Tivo.

Saturday I'll be receiving 5 of the 6 disks of Veronica Mars season 1.

Shout out to bulldawg4life for commenting on my last post, and actually being my first commentor on this blog. I am really looking forward to Veronica Mars, and I have heard rumors of the bad actress that plays Isabell on the 4400. And I'm sure you weren't surprised that my shows tonight packed little punch.

Catching Up (9/21/06)

Hey all, so before I begin, I should let you all know this will be a blog about what I'm watching (which is kind of a lot), and if I'm digging it or not.

Last night I just finished the 2nd season of the 4400 which I got from Netflix, and it was seriously awsome. I knew that baby Isabell was going to turn into an adult, which I suspect has an awful lot to do with Shawn taking whatever entity was in Kyle out. However, in no way shape or form did I expect Jordan to come back. And although I was not a fan of his at first, I felt like the episodes after he 'died' were missing something, and I didn't want Shawn to be the only hope for the center. (Cuz we all know that weasely new guy wasn't doing anything) I sure hope he remembers what the heck's been going on, and can just shave off his weird beard, cut his gross hair, and get into a new, not torn suit and take over the center again. I know the third season is finished on USA, and hopefully my Tivo can catch me up like it has for the Dead Zone.

So next on the DVD list is Veronica Mars, hopefully I can catch up on two seasons before season three starts on CW, or at least shortly thereafter.

Tonight I'll be watching Survivor, Grey's Anatomy, and taping CSI:. I'll report on those later.

Oh, and what the heck was up with no new Project Runway last night?
